FIRST FELT (Å TO ½ INCH (0.635 TO 1.27 CM)). AS
AIRPLANE DECELERATES, REPOSITIONING
(METERING) OF HANDLE (EASING IN) MAY BE
NECESSARYTOPREVENTSUDDEN STOPPING OR
TIRE SKIDDING.
The following procedure should be used to stop the airplane with the emergency brakes:
1. Applied Brake Pressure.........................................................DISPLAY ON DU 4
2. AUX PUMP ........................................................................................................ON
3. PARK/EMERG BRAKE Handle.........APPLY - DO NOT EXCEED 300 PSI MAX
When using emergency braking, the pilot should devote his attention to airplane
control and the copilot should monitor applied brake pressure, advising the pilot of
corrections required to maintain 300 psi applied brake pressure.
05-05-30: Wheel Brake Failure
If the Combined Hydraulic System engine-driven pump fails, the Utility Hydraulic System
will automatically provide power to operate the brakes. If both the Combined and Utility
Hydraulic Systems fail, the Auxiliary Hydraulic System may be used to operate the
brakes. Anti-skid protection is available when using Combined, Utility or Auxiliary
Hydraulic System pressure.
CAUTION
TAKEOFF IS NOT PERMITTED WITH EITHER
SINGLE OR DUAL CHANNEL FAILURE OF PILOTÕS
OR COPILOTÕS BRAKE SYSTEM.
05-05-40: Brake Confidence Check - Inflight (Brake-By-Wire)
1. ANTI SKID .........................................................................................................ON
2. BRAKE NUTCRKR ORIDE.........................DEPRESS AND HOLD FOR STEP 3
AFTER HOLDING BRAKE NUTCRKR ORIDE SWITCH FOR TEN (10) SECONDS,
CONTINUE TO HOLD SWITCH DEPRESSED AND:
3. Pilot’s/Copilot’s Left/Right Brake Pedals.................INDIVIDUALLY DEPRESS

05-05-50: Uncommanded Applied Brake Pressure - Inflight (Brake-By-
Wire)
1. Brake System Test (BITE)...................................................................PERFORM
Perform the Brake-By-Wire System Built-In-Test-Equipment (BITE) test several
times in an attempt to clear the uncommanded pressure. BITE is initiated by
depressing the BRAKE TEST switch located on the center pedestal. The ÒIN
TESTÓswitch legend will illuminate for approximately three (3) seconds as the test
is being performed. The following messages will be displayed on CAS (in addition
to the associated aural tones and the glareshield MASTER CAUTION light):
• ANTI-SKID FAIL (Caution/Amber)
• BRAKE FAIL (Caution/Amber)
• BRAKE PEDAL (Caution/Amber)
• BRAKE MAINT REQÕD (Advisory/Blue)
Should any of the messages/annunciations not be present during the test, the test
is not successful. Should any of the messages/annunciations not clear after the
test is completed, the test is not successful, and the ßight crew should evaluate
the implications of the remaining messages.
IF BRAKE PRESSURE RETURNS TO NORMAL:
2. Brake Confidence Check ....................................................................PERFORM
See Section 05-05-40: Brake ConÞdence Check - Inßight (Brake-By-Wire).
IF BRAKE PRESSURE REMAINS, PROCEED AS FOLLOWS:
3. BCS CHL #1 Circuit Breaker (CB) ..............................................................PULL
The BCS CHL #1 CB is located on the CopilotÕs Overhead Panel, A-2. With
the CB pulled, the amber ANTI-SKID FAIL caution message will be
displayed on CAS.
A. Brake Pressure ..........APPLY AND HOLD FOR THIRTY (30) SECONDS
Open-loop pulsed (Bang-Bang) braking will occur.
B. Brake Pedals ..............................................................................RELEASE
IF BRAKE PRESSURE RETURNS TO NORMAL:
C. BCS CHL #1 Circuit Breaker (CB).................................................RESET
IF BRAKE PRESSURE REMAINS NORMAL:
D. Brake Confidence Check .........................................................PERFORM
See Section 05-05-40: Brake ConÞdence Check - Inßight (Brake-By-Wire).
IF APPLIED PRESSURE REMAINS, PROCEED AS FOLLOWS:
4. BCS CHL #2 CB............................................................................................PULL
The BCS CHL #2 CB is located on the CopilotÕs Overhead Panel, B-2. With
