has manually deployed speed brakes.
(2) Monitor engine instruments.
(3) Apply slight forward pressure on the control column.
(4) Notify tower of rejected takeoff as soon as conditions permit.
(5) When clear of runway, perform appropriate Emergency, Abnormal or
Normal checklist, to include evacuating the aircraft, if desired.
NOTE:
After a rejected takeoff, the cabin pressurization
system may still be in the FLIGHT mode of operation.
Select the LANDING mode to allow the aircraft to
depressurize.
(6) Check brake temperatures.

06-02-30: Engine Fire/Failure on Takeoff
1. Procedure:
(See Figure 4.)
A. In All Cases:
(1) If engine failure occurs after V1, maintain directional control with the
rudder.
(2) At VR, smoothly rotate the airplane to takeoff pitch attitude
commanded by the flight director. Additional rudder input will be
required when the nosewheels lift off. When established in the
climb, a pitch attitude of 10° to 12° will be required to maintain
V2speed.
If engine failure occurs after passing V2, climb at that speed (up to
V2 +10 knots).
NOTE:
Full rudder trim may be required for single engine
climb to 1,500 feet; ensure that it is applied in the
proper direction. When an engine fails, the slip
indicator deflects to the side with the operating engine,
thus the adages “step on the ball” or “dead engine,
dead leg” would apply.
(3) When a positive rate of climb is established, retract the landing gear.
(4) If power is set to less than rated EPR, smoothly increase power.
(5) Adjust pitch attitude to climb at V2 (up to V2 +10 knots) for aircraft
with SPZ 8000. For aircraft with SPZ 8400, select autospeed on
Flight Guidance Panel and fly pitch to maintain V2 (up to V2 +10
knots).
(6) Above 400 feet AGL, identify failed engine and check for fire.
(7) As workload and safety permits, advise Air Traffic Control (ATC).
(8) At 1500 feet AGL, accelerate to VFS (minimum).
(9) Set power to maximum continuous or less. Set flaps at 10° for
instrument approach, 20° (T/O APP) for VFR pattern, or 0° (UP) for
continued climb.
(10) Complete Emergency and Normal checklists.

Revision 4
06-02-40: Climb
1. Procedure:
A. With Autothrottles:
(1) After rotation, takeoff power is held and V2 +10 knots is left in the
SPEED window until 400 ft AGL.
(2) At 400 ft AGL, the autothrottles are commanded to maintain 200
KCAS with a power setting up to a maximum of climb EPR.
(3) Once outside of local traffic (4 nautical miles and 2500 ft AGL are
the default FMS settings), 250 KCAS is displayed and commanded
below 10,000 feet.
(4) After 10,000 feet, 300 KCAS is commanded until Mach changeover,
where 0.75 Mach (or programmed airspeed from PERF INIT) is
commanded.
NOTE:
For maximum range, the optimum climb profile is 250
KCAS below 10,000 feet, then 300 KCAS to 0.75
Mach, where climb speed is changed to 0.74 Mach.
B. Without Autothrottles:
(1) After landing gear retraction, retract flaps, and set climb EPR.
Maintain 200 KCAS until clear of the Class D airspace.
(2) The recommended climb profile is 250 KCAS to 10000 feet, then
300 KCAS to 0.75 Mach for the remainder of the climb.

06-03-10: Steep Turns
(See Figure 1.)
Maintaining a steady pitch attitude is essential for a level steep turn. As bank angle
increases, adjust pitch and power to maintain altitude and airspeed. When the turn is
complete, reducing pitch and power will also be necessary to transition back to straight
and level ßight.
For training purposes, the following values are recommended:
• Suggested altitudes: 10,500 to 15,500 feet (3,000 feet AGL minimum)
