The role of the Chemistry Laboratory is to:
Maintain all the process tanks to ensure that they remain
within the range specified by our customers and carry
out tests to ensure that coatings produced are of a consistent
quality. Tests include corrosion resistance of our Alocrom
and Chromic Acid Anodised coatings to the ASTM B-117
specification and micro-hardness of our chrome plate. Where
contamination can build up in tanks such as metals in etch tanks
or total metal oxides in chrome plate solutions, these are monitored
and solutions replaced before they reach a level where they
can cause problems.
Periodically review the analysis methods assess their accuracy
and reliability and improvements made were necessary.
Produce training programs for the operators so they understand
the principles of the process they are carrying out and the importance
of proper control and operation. The solution analysis and all testing are
made available to operators through our internal computer system Hyper.
Support the production team to integrate new customer specifications
into existing processes or when introducing a new process to ensure that all
aspects of the customer specification are met.
METALLURGY
The Metallurgical facilities within Hycrome are responsible for metallurgical investigations
of coating microstructures to ensure that these meet customer
requirements. Analysis of engine run components is undertaken to assess the
suitability for repair. Additionally as required by customers routine adhesion testing
of painting systems are undertaken as well as other general investigations.

Nondestructive testing (NDT) is used to verify the integrity of all Aerospace and Gas Turbine engine parts. Both newly machined
and overhaul parts are cleaned at Hycrome’s Pre-Treatment Facility prior to inspection using several
methods dependant on the substrate material. NDT can detect inherent defects within the material along
with fatigue cracks, corrosion, pitting & defects caused by machining abuse.

Hycrome’s engineering facility has a wealth of
knowledge and experience, offering clients the
opportunities in reverse engineering, design
and modelling and 2D drawing creations.
With these attributes at hand Hycrome can
offer extensive support on design, prototyping
and development of work with new parts being
produced within a highly skilled CNC manufacturing
cell.
