Should you have a need to access e.g. the aprons by vehicle in order to bring or fetch cargo in relation to
your research activities you must be granted specific flight line access prior to entering the areas. The
permission can be obtained through a personal request at the Airport Administration office. While on the
flight line always pay special attention to aircraft traffic, parked aircraft, and refueling activities. You must,
without hesitation, follow the orders given by pilots or other aircraft crew members.

Food
Pilersuisoq (the general store) is located just north of the airport building and adjacent to the post office.
Opening hours are Monday - Friday 9:00 18:00 and Saturday - Sunday 9:00 14:00. You can buy fresh,
canned, frozen, dried and freeze-dried foods for household use as well as for field use. In case you need
large quantities of special items you must contact the store manager well in advance to learn the terms of
payment and delivery.
Airport Hotel Cafeteria
The cafeteria located in the airport hotel building offers good, plain meals at reasonable prices.
The cafeteria is open every day 6:30 - 21:30 (hot meals available 10:30 - 20:30). Take-home orders can
also be arranged (phone 11104). Only Danish currency, Dankort, or Danish bank cheques are accepted as
payment.

Airport Hotel Restaurant
The airport building has a good restaurant with an international menu and Greenland specialties. The
restaurant is open every day 18:00 - 24:00 (kitchen closes 21:30).
ANI
This shop selling foods and commonday neccesities is located in the former Polar Bear Dining Hall
buildingon the south side. It is open all days 10:00 - 22:00. ANI also hosts a café (open all days 11:30 -
19:00).
Café Nordlys
Hosts a café, a restaurant and a bar. Open Tuesday Thursday and Sunday 17:00 24:00; Friday
Saturday 17:00 - 03:00. Monday closed. The hot meal kitchen closes 21:30. Table reservation at phone 84
14 40.
Rowing Club
This restaurant at the Tasersuatsiaq (aka Lake Ferguson ) lake shore is open only from April through
August.
Take Away Pizzeria
Located next to the parking lot in front of the post office this shop produces pizzas to go. Open Monday -
Friday 11:00 - 20:00 and Saturday 12:00 - 20:00. Please call 84 16 35 to place your order.
Full board in the Old Camp hostel: 200 DKK / person / 24 hours. Must be ordered at least 24 hours in
advance and for min. 6 persons.
Lunch package (sandwich style) from Old Camp: 35 DKK / package.
Freezers
In KISS a number of older, but functional refrigerators and freezers are available for free use in the
designated freezer room at the ground level. However, the freezer are expected to maintain an inside
temperature between -5°C and -20°C, but there is no guarantee for function and endurance of the any of
the freezers.
If you project samples need to be stored at a guaranteed temperature, you will have to make your own cold
storage arrangement. Please contact the CH2M Hill Polar Services (CPS) manager or the airport technical
management to learn about terms and availability.
It may also be possible to store goods in the freezer of the cafeteria of the Airport Hotel. If space is available
the cost is 20 DKK per tiem. Goods to be frozen must be well wrapped and labelled with your name.
Fuels
Scientists make use of a variety of fuel types during fieldwork, and most common types are available in
Kangerlussuaq.
In Pilersuisoq (the general store) you can purchase:
Field stove gas (butane) (e.g. 'Gaz Bleu' for camping stoves)
Field stove alcohol (e.g. for 'Trangia Stormkökken')

Kerosene / paraffin (e.g. for primusses and lamps)

lubricating oils (e.g. for motor vehicles, aircrafts)
Contact the Statoil manager to get a quote of actual prices. If your scientific activities will need large
quantities of fuels sold by Statoil you are recommended to contact the local Statoil manager in advance to
