Horizon definition: Good: Sharp horizon. Fair: Identifiable. Poor: Barely discernable.
Nil: No horizon.
Surface definition: Good: Snow surface features are easily identified by shadow. Fair: Snow surface can be
identified by contrast. No definite shadow exist. Poor: Snow surface cannot be identified except close up.
Nil: Snow surface features cannot be identified. No shadow or contrast. Dark coloured objects seem to
"float" in the air. Glare is equally bright from all directions. Whiteout: NIL surface, NIL horizon.
