seven new Sikorsky S76C++
medium aircraft and two new EC135
light twin aircraft as they are
delivered, along with other aircraft as
required. These aircraft will primarily
support Shell's expanding deepwater
projects. In addition, the Company
was also awarded a multi-year
contract with the National Science
Foundation to support their program
in Antarctica. Bell 212 medium
aircraft and Eurocopter AS350 light
aircraft will support this work under
the same format as the prior ten-year
program.
Air France continues to develop its
network to India, one of the world's
fastest-growing markets. Starting on
30 October 2006, Air France will
operate three weekly flights to and
from Chennai (Madras) using its own
aircraft (the service is currently
operated on a code-share basis with
Delta Air Lines aircraft and crew).
The flight will be operated using an
Airbus A340.
Cathay Pacific Airways is to add
Stockholm and Toronto to its
freighter network. Stockholm will
commence September 17th 2006
and Toronto September 20th 2006.
Air Canada launched a new nonstop
flight between Toronto and
Shanghai on June 17th. With the
addition of this service Air Canada
now flies 13 routes to eight major
Asian cities.
Emirates and the Austrian Airlines
Group have started a cooperation on
the recently inaugurated A310-300
freighter service between Dubai and
Vienna. Emirates SkyCargo started
this once a week service earlier this
year on April 8th with a strategic
focus on the emerging markets in
Central and Eastern Europe. Based
on a blocked space arrangement
Austrian Cargo will have guaranteed
access to three Main Deck and one
Lower Deck Position both to and
from Dubai.
Air Midwest was notified by the US
Department of Transportation that it
has been awarded new, two year,
Essential Air Service contracts for
service to the communities of
Columbia/Jefferson City, Missouri
and both Grand Island and McCook,
Nebraska. Air Midwest service in all
three communities is anticipated to
begin in the September to October
timeframe and will be flown on the
Company's 19-passenger, Raytheon
1900D aircraft.
TAM will start a daily flight to London
as of October 28, landing at
Heathrow's airport.
