Aer Lingus receives TRUEngine
designation from CFMI
CFM International has awarded the
TRUEngine designation to a total of
70 new and overhauled CFM56-5B
engines in the Aer Lingus fleet. The
CFM56-5B engines were awarded
TRUEngine status following a
comprehensive review of the airline's
fleet operational data and
maintenance records. These records
validated that maintenance of all of
the engines is consistent with CFM
International's requirements for those
eng i n e model s , i n c l u d i n g
maintenance practices, spare parts
and repairs and that they comply
with CFM-issued engine manuals,
service bulletins, and other
maintenance recommendations.
Rolls-Royce selected to develop
two engine demonstrators
The European Commission has
selected Rolls-Royce to lead the
development of two engine
demonstrators as part of the Clean
Sky Joint Technology Initiative to
accelerate the delivery of cleaner
and quieter engine technologies.
Rolls-Royce will receive up to 53
million euros from the European
Commission and benefit from the
work of partners valued at 82 million
euros over seven years to 2015. The
two demonstrators will enhance the
development of new technologies for
the next generation of narrow and
wide-body aircraft engines. These
will help Rolls-Royce to meet the
market demands by reducing CO2,
NOx and noise emissions and
reducing the time it takes to bring
them to market.
ATR wins maintenance contract
Malaysia Airlines and ATR
announced the signature of a Global
Maintenance Agreement, valued at
$27 million, for spare parts and
maintenance services for the new
ATR 72-500 fleet of the two Malaysia
Airlines’ subsidiaries, MASwings and
Firefly. Under this 7-year GMA, ATR
will handle the repair of equipment
and line replaceable units, as well as
the inventory of spare parts.
ST Aerospace to provide MRO
services on C-130Bs
ST Aerospace, the aerospace arm of

Engineering, has been awarded a
$51million contract to perform
maintenance and modification on
four C-130B aircraft for the
Indonesian Air Force. The program

ExpressJet board approves stock
repurchasing program
ExpressJet Holdings announced that
its Board of Directors has authorized
an additional $10 million for the
previously announced securities
repurchase program. The company
expects any purchases of the notes
or the stock to be made from time to
time in the open market or in
privately negotiated transactions.
Common stock acquired through the
repurchase program will be available
for general corporate purposes, and
convertible notes repurchased under
the program will be cancelled.
ExelTech reports loss
ExelTech Aerospace reported its
financial results for the second
quarter ended September 30, 2008.
The Company’s revenues decreased
by 27% to C$9.0 million in the
quarter ended September 30, 2008,
compared to C$12.2 million during
the quarter ended September 30,
2007. Net loss was C$16.7 million in
the quarter ended September 30,
2008, due mainly to a goodwill
impairment in the amount of C$13.2
million. This goodwill resulted from
the business combination of
ExelTech Aerospace and NordTech
Aerospace in February 2005. In the
quarter ended September 30, 2007,
the Company had a Net Income of
