Swiss to realize plans to boost productivity of the
Airbus pilots without having to shed jobs.
Both Airbus A330-200 aircraft were previously in
service with Lufthansa. The additional aircraft will
bring the SWISS long-haul fleet to 21 aircraft,
consisting of nine A340-300 and eleven A330-200
aircraft, plus a leased-in Boeing Business Jet (BBJ) in
service on the Zurich-Newark route.

INVESTIGATE AIRLINE PRICING
British Airways confirmed that the Office of Fair
Trading (OFT) and the United States Department of
Justice (DOJ) are investigating alleged cartel
activity involving British Airways and other airlines
in relation to pricing of passenger air transportation,
including fuel surcharges. UK and U.S. authorities
reportedly launched a civil and criminal probe into
an alleged cartel over air fares and fuel surcharges
after raiding BA's offices. BA put two senior
executives on leave.

EADS confirms that in
the context of the

exchange authority

ago, AMF is currently
enquiring on site in
Toulouse. The
investigation relates
to the development of

Finnair takes delivery of first wide
body Airbus
Finnair's first Airbus A340 had its
inaugural flight on June 19th from
Helsinki to Kuopio in central Finland.
The wide-bodied, former Virgin
Atlantic 295-seat aircraft joined the
Finnair fleet last week and will begin
operating in Finland. This first Airbus
A340 is the launch for Finnair's longhaul
fleet renewal during which the
airline will acquire 12 new Airbus
wide-bodied aircraft. Nine of them
will be A350s and three A340s. The
next A340s will arrive in 2007-08.
The current long-haul Boeing MD-11
fleet will be phased out by 2012.

Virgin Blue expands CFM56 fleet
with $100 million engine order
Australian carrier Virgin Blue has
expanded its CFM56-7B fleet with an
order for engines to power nine new
Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The order
is valued at about $100 million at list
price and the airline will take delivery
between 2008 and 2010. Virgin Blue
began operation in August 2000. The
airline operates an all-CFM-powered
Boeing 737-700/-800 fleet of 50
aircraft on routes throughout
Australia, New Zealand, and the
South Pacific.
Luxair signs for three Q400s
Bombardier Aerospace released that
Luxair, the national airline of
Luxembourg, has placed a firm order
for three Bombardier Q400 turboprop
airliners and taken options on three
additional aircraft. The list price value
of the three aircraft on firm order is
approximately $75 million.
Maxjet takes delivery of third
aircraft
MAXjet Airways, the low-fare, allbusiness-
class transatlantic airline,
took delivery of its third aircraft. This
third aircraft will allow increased
frequencies on existing routes as
well as development of new service.
In May, the airline carried
approximately 3,950 passengers
from New York to London Stansted,
reaching an average load factor of
72 percent.
Embraer's Legacy 600 certified in
Indonesia
The Legacy 600 executive jet has
received type certification from the
Directorate General of Air
Communications, the Indonesian
airworthiness authority. Embraer
delivered one Legacy 600 jet to
Jakar ta-based PT Ekspres
Transportasi Antarbenua (Premiair)
with this certification, and will deliver
the second Legacy 600 in
September to another undisclosed
company in the country. The
certification campaign in Indonesia
was based on the Brazilian authority
Centro Técnico Aeroespacial’s (CTA)
