MacDONALD
Sadie R. MacDonald, Orangedale, passed away peacefully in
her 83rd year in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital with
her loving friends by her side on Friday, January 4th, 2008. Born
in Ashfield, Inverness Co., she was a daughter of the late Ranold
and Mary Jane (MacDougall) MacDonald. Sadie worked most of her
life as a store clerk in her community of Orangedale. In her later
years, she worked as a cook at Camp Aitebreagh where she made
many lifelong memories and friends. Many of her camp friends kept
in touch with Sadie up until her final days. She was very involved
in the community, being a member of Orangedale United Church,
Orangedale Improvement Association, and Orangedale Station
Association. First and foremost was her involvement in the church,
and she was a choir member for many years. Sadie was a lifetime
member of the UCW in which she held the office, “community
friendship.” There weren’t too many people Sadie forgot to send a
card to over the years. She was also a regular at Betty’s weekly
prayer group. The church was a huge part of her life. Surviving are
sister Katherine Fraser and niece Cathy Shrinduk, both of New
Glasgow. She is also survived by several cousins. Sadie will be
greatly missed by her “second” family, the Beesons, Sadie, Carol
Ann, Donna, Connie and Lynn. She was predeceased by brothers
William, Donald, Jack and Hugh. Visitation was held in Dennis
Haverstock Funeral Home, Whycocomagh. Funeral service was
held Sunday, January 6th 1:00 p.m. in Orangedale United Church,
Rev. Janet Blois officiating. Burial will be in Stewartdale Cemetery
at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Orangedale
United Church or Stewartdale Cemetery. Words of comfort may be
forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com.
