NOTE: Turning the piston rod 1/4 turn will change the clearance by approximately 0.09
inches.
(e) Tighten the check nut [55].
(f) Check the adjustment.
1) Do this task: Speed Brake Hydraulic Systems A and B Pressurization,
TASK 27-62-00-800-801.
2) Retract the flaps (Retract the Trailing Edge Flaps, TASK 27-51-00-860-804).
3) Slowly move the speed brake lever to the DOWN position.
4) Make sure the clearances between the spoilers and the flaps are within the tolerances.
5) Turn the control wheel fully clockwise.
a) Make sure spoilers No. 2, 3, 4, and 5 do not move down.
b) If the spoilers move down, go back to the start of the task.
NOTE: You do not need to check the fit of the rig pins a second time.
6) Turn the control wheel back to neutral to retract the flight spoilers.
7) Turn the control wheel fully counterclockwise.
a) Make sure spoilers No. 8, 9, 10, and 11 do not move down.
b) If the spoilers move down, go back to the start of the task.
NOTE: You do not need to check the fit of the rig pins a second time.
(g) Extend the flaps (Extend the Trailing Edge Flaps, TASK 27-51-00-860-803).
(h) Move the speed brake lever to the full up position to extend the spoilers.
(i) Clean all grease from the piston rod and the actuator rod end [56] threads with Series 84
solvent, B01004 (TASK 20-30-84-910-801).
(j) Apply a layer of the corrosion preventive compound to the threads of the actuator rod
end [56].

(k) Tighten the check nut [55] to 250 - 300 pound-inches (28.2 - 33.9 newton-meters).
(l) Install the lockwire, G01912 on the check nut [55].
(m) Apply a bead of sealant, A00247 to the check nut [55].

(6) Check the adjustment of the spoiler actuator linkage. Do this task Spoiler Actuator Linkage
Adjustment, TASK 27-61-00-820-804.

(7) Do this task: Flight Spoiler System Test (Alternate Method), TASK 27-61-00-000-801.
G. Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition

(1) Move the speed brake lever to the DOWN position to lower the spoilers, if it is necessary.

(2) Do this task: Retract the Trailing Edge Flaps, TASK 27-51-00-860-804.

(3) Make sure the clearance between the spoiler and the flap is in the limits.

(4) Do this task: Put the Speed Brake Hydraulic systems A and B Back to the Condition Before
the Pressurization, TASK 27-62-00-840-801.
