SPOILER RATIO CHANGER - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
1. General
A. This procedure has these tasks:
(1) A removal of the spoiler ratio changer.
(2) An installation of the spoiler ratio changer.

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF ALL CONTROL
SURFACES BEFORE YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. AILERONS, RUDDERS,
ELEVATORS, FLAPS, SLATS, SPOILERS, LANDING GEAR, AND THRUST REVERSERS
CAN MOVE QUICKLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. THIS CAN CAUSE
INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Do this task: Spoiler Hydraulic Systems A and B Pressurization, TASK 27-61-00-800-801.

(2) Move the speed brake lever to the DOWN position.

(3) Do this task: Put the Spoiler Hydraulic systems A and B Back to the Condition Before the
Pressurization, TASK 27-61-00-840-801.

(4) Do this task: Spoiler Mixer Removal, TASK 27-61-21-000-801.
F. Spoiler Ratio Changer Removal
SUBTASK 27-61-31-020-002
(1) If you will install a new spoiler ratio changer [8], remove the two-bolt couplings from the spoiler
ratio changer [8].
(a) Remove nuts [24], washers [23], bolts [22] and couplings [21].
(b) Remove nuts [28], washers [27], bolts [26] and coupling [25].

(2) Disconnect the spoiler control cables WSA1, WSA2 [5] and WSB1, WSB2 [7] from the left and
right spoiler output quadrants [18]:
(a) Install a control cable clamp, SPL-1569 on the spoiler control cables WSA1, WSA2 [5] and
on WSB1, WSB2 [7].
NOTE: This will keep a small tension on the control cables.
(b) Remove the lockstitch from the turnbuckles [6] in the main landing gear wheel well.
(c) Remove the lock clips from the turnbuckles [6].
(d) Release the tension in the spoiler control cables WSA1, WSA2 [5] and WSB1, WSB2 [7].
NOTE: Do not disconnect the turnbuckles [6].
(e) Attach a tag to the spoiler control cables WSA1, WSA2 [5] and WSB1, WSB2 [7] for
identification during the installation.
(f) Remove the spoiler control cables WSA1, WSA2 [5] and WSB1, WSB2 [7] from the spoiler
output quadrants [18].

(3) Disconnect the speed brake control cables SBA [3] and SBB [2] from the speed brake input
quadrant [19]:
(a) Open this access panel:

(b) Remove the lock clips from the turnbuckles [1] in the lower nose compartment.
(c) Release the tension in the speed brake control cables SBA [3] and SBB [2].
NOTE: Do not disconnect the turnbuckles [1].
(d) Install a control cable clamp, SPL-1569 on the speed brake control cable SBA [3] and on
SBB [2] at the pressure seal in the main landing gear wheel well.
NOTE: This will keep a small tension on the cables.
(e) Attach a tag to the speed brake control cables SBA [3] and SBB [2] for identification during
