4. Speed Brake Control Cable Adjustment
(Figure 501, Figure 502)
A. General
(1) Use this procedure to adjust the speed brake control cables SBA [35] and SBB [34].
(2) Before you do cable adjustment, permit a minimum of one hour at a constant ambient
temperature of ±58F (+/- 2.88C) for the airframe temperature to become stable.
(a) The cable tension values will not be correct when there are temperature differences along
the cable run.
B. Tools/Equipment
NOTE: When more than one tool part number is listed under the same "Reference" number, the
tools shown are alternates to each other within the same airplane series. Tool part numbers
that are replaced or non-procurable are preceded by "Opt:", which stands for Optional.

SUBTASK 27-62-00-820-002
(1) Adjust the speed brake control cables SBA [35] and SBB [34]:
(a) Move the speed brake lever through one full cycle.
(b) Move the speed brake lever to the DOWN position.
(c) Open this access panel:

(d) Install the rig pin S/B-1 from rig pin kit, SPL-1585 in the forward drum (Figure 501).
(e) Make sure you can easily install the rig pin S/B-2 from rig pin kit, SPL-1585 in the input
quadrant for the speed brake.

(f) Use the 40 - 600 lb cable tensiometer, COM-1554 to make sure the tension in the cables
SBA [35] and SBB [34] is in the limit of the High and Low tensions shown below (Table 501).
