(5) Do the steps below in turn for spoiler panels 8, 9, 10 and 11.
(a) Install the protractor, COM-1691 on the spoiler panel.
1) Note the location of the protractor.
2) Adjust the protractor, COM-1691 to zero.
(b) Turn the control wheel clockwise to 30 degrees and hold.
1) Using the spoiler protractor, note the position of spoiler panel.
NOTE: If you have to remove the protractor to measure the angle of the spoiler panel,
make sure you replace it in the same location from where it came.
(c) Continue to turn the control wheel clockwise to the 87 degree wheel position.
1) Using the spoiler protractor, note the new position of the spoiler panel.
2) Verify the left wing spoilers are in the down position.
(d) Make sure the right wing flight spoiler panels 8, 9, 10 and 11 stay in the full down position.
(e) Shake-out and center the control wheel.

(6) Make sure that the noted position of the spoiler panel is within the spoiler position limits as are
shown in the table.

(7) Make sure that the noted position of the spoiler panel is within the spoiler position limits as are
shown in the table.

(8) Do the following steps:
(a) Turn the control wheel to 87 degrees in the clockwise direction.
(b) Slowly turn the control wheel in the counterclockwise direction.
(c) Stop turning the control wheel when spoiler panels 8, 9, 10 and 11 start to move down.
1) Record the control wheel position.
(d) Slowly begin turning the control wheel to the neutral position.
(e) Stop turning the control wheel when spoiler panels 8 and 9 reach the full down position.
NOTE: In the FULL DOWN position it is normal for spoiler panel 8 to be slightly higher
than spoiler panel 9.
1) Record the control wheel position.
(f) Make sure the noted control wheel positions are within the limits shown in the table below.

(9) Shake-out and center the control wheel.

(10) Do the following steps to test spoiler panel response at the ’ARMED’ detent position.
(a) Move the speed brake lever from DOWN to FULL UP at least six times.
(b) Move the speedbrake lever to the down and locked position.
(c) Move the speed brake lever to the ’ARMED’ detent position.
(d) Make sure that flight spoilers 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10 and 11 are not extended more than 1.50
degrees (0.63 inch) at the trailing edge.
NOTE: Make sure to zero the protractor on each panel in the down position prior to
measuring panel angle.
(e) Move the speed brake to the DOWN and LOCKED position.

(11) Do the following steps to test spoiler equalization with partial Speed Brake (Table 507).
NOTE: These steps must be carried out separately for corresponding spoiler panels 2 and 11,
3 and 10, 4 and 9 and 5 and 8.
(a) Adjust the spoiler panel protractor to read zero degrees on the left wing spoiler panel in the
DOWN position
(b) Note the location of the protractor on the spoiler panel.
(c) Move the speed brake lever from the down and locked position until the left wing spoiler
panel is raised 15 +/- 1 degrees.
(d) Using the protractor, measure the position of the left wing spoiler panel.
(e) Return the protractor to the location noted on the spoiler panel.
(f) Measure and record the position of the right wing spoiler panel.
NOTE: Do NOT adjust the protractor zero for this measurement.
