D. Prepare for the Removal

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF ALL CONTROL
SURFACES BEFORE YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. AILERONS, RUDDERS,
ELEVATORS, FLAPS, SLATS, SPOILERS, LANDING GEAR, AND THRUST REVERSERS
CAN MOVE QUICKLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. THIS CAN CAUSE
INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Do this task: Spoiler Hydraulic Systems A and B Pressurization, TASK 27-61-00-800-801.

(2) Move the speed brake lever to the DOWN position.
SUBTASK 27-61-21-860-003
(3) Do this task: Put the Spoiler Hydraulic systems A and B Back to the Condition Before the
Pressurization, TASK 27-61-00-840-801.

(4) Do this task: Remove Pressure from the Speed Brake Hydraulic Systems A and B,
TASK 27-62-00-800-802.

(5) Install the rig pin A/S-3 from the test set rig pin kit, SPL-1585 in the lower crank for the aileron
spring cartridge.

(6) Install the rig pin A/S-4 from the test set rig pin kit, SPL-1585 in the aileron bus drum.

CAUTION: KEEP THE RIG PIN A/S-14 INSTALLED WHILE THE SPOILER MIXER IS REMOVED. THE
SPOILER MIXER CAN BE DAMAGED IF YOU REMOVE THE RIG PIN.
(7) Install the rig pin A/S-14 from the test set rig pin kit, SPL-1585 in the spoiler mixer
E. Spoiler Mixer Removal
SUBTASK 27-61-21-020-001
(1) Remove the spoiler mixer [1]:
(a) Remove the nut [9], washer [8], washer [7], and bolt [6] that attaches the control rod [5] to
ground spoiler control valve lever [11].
(b) Remove nut [15], washer [14], washer [13] and bolt [12] to disconnect the aileron spring
cartridge [17] from the aileron input crank [16].
(c) Move the aileron spring cartridge [17] to get access to the couplings [27] and coupling [18].
(d) Loosen the nuts [30] on the two couplings [27].
(e) Loosen the nuts [21] on the coupling [18].
(f) Loosen the nut [37] on the coupling [34].
(g) Remove the nuts [2], and washers [3] from the four mounting studs [4].
(h) Remove the spoiler mixer [1] from the airplane.

(2) Remove the nuts [30], nuts [21], washers [29], washers [20], bolts [28], bolts [19], couplings [27],
and coupling [18].
NOTE: You must keep the coupling [34] with the spoiler mixer [1].

(3) Remove the control rod [5] from the spoiler mixer [1]:
(a) Remove nut [26], washer [25], washer [24], and bolt [23] and disconnect the control rod [5]
from the spoiler mixer [1].
