D. Ground Spoiler Control Valve Adjustment
SUBTASK 27-62-00-860-014
(1) Do this task: Supply Electrical Power, TASK 24-22-00-860-811.
SUBTASK 27-62-00-860-015
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF ALL CONTROL
SURFACES BEFORE YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. AILERONS, RUDDERS,
ELEVATORS, FLAPS, SLATS, SPOILERS, LANDING GEAR, AND THRUST REVERSERS
CAN MOVE QUICKLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. THIS CAN CAUSE
INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(2) Do this task: Speed Brake Hydraulic Systems A and B Pressurization,
TASK 27-62-00-800-801.
SUBTASK 27-62-00-210-002
(3) Examine the hydraulic connections on the ground spoiler control valve [51] for leakage.

(4) Move the speed brake lever through more than one full cycle to bleed the hydraulic system.

(5) Do the ground spoiler control valve [51] adjustment:
(a) Make sure the speed brake lever is in the DOWN position.
(b) Remove the bolt [52], washer [53] and nut [54] that attach the control rod [55] to the valve
lever [56].

(c) Use digital protractor, STD-1232 to position the speed brake lever to 29 +/-2 degrees aft of
the DOWN position.
NOTE: 29 +/-2 degrees is equivalent to 2.78 +/-0.20 inches (70.6 +/- 5.1 mm) of the
speed brake lever travel from the DOWN position measured along the top surface
of the aisle stand light plate.
(d) By hand slowly move the valve lever [56] inboard until the inboard spoilers begin to move.
NOTE: The inboard spoilers will move before the outboard spoilers.
(e) Adjust the control rod [55]:
1) Loosen the checknut on the control rod [55].
2) Adjust the length of the control rod [55] until you can install the bolt [52].
3) Install the washer [53], nut [54] and bolt [52].
4) Make sure you can see the threads of the rod end through the inspection hole in the
control rod [55].
5) Tighten the checknut.
(f) Move the speed brake lever to the DOWN position.
(g) Slowly move the speed brake lever aft.
(h) Make sure the inboard spoilers begin to move at speed brake lever position of 29 +/-2
degrees aft of the DOWN position.
(i) Adjust the control rod [55] if necessary.

(6) Do this task: Put the Speed Brake Hydraulic systems A and B Back to the Condition Before
the Pressurization, TASK 27-62-00-840-801.

(7) Fill the hydraulic reservoir if it is necessary. To fill, do this task: Hydraulic Reservoir Servicing,
TASK 12-12-00-610-801.
