(4) Make sure you can easily install and remove the rig pins A/S-14, S/B-2, A/S-8, A/S-9, A/S-10 and
A/S-11 from the rig pin kit, SPL-1585.

(5) Attach the straightedge, SPL-1671 on the captain’s and first officer’s control wheels.
(a) Make sure the top ends of the control wheels touch the straightedge, SPL-1671.
NOTE: One end of the first officer’s control wheel cannot be farther than 0.20 inch (5.08
millimeters) from the straightedge, SPL-1671.

(6) Measure the cable tensions.
(a) Make sure the cable tensions are not out of tolerance (Table 501).

(7) Install the lock clips on the turnbuckles.

(8) Install the lockstitch on the cable turnbuckles as follows:
(a) The tape, G00370 should be installed in the same configuration that it was in before it was
removed (on either side of each turnbuckle) (Figure 501).
NOTE: In normal operation, the cables move together. If one cable fails, the lockstitch will
allow the remaining cable to move past the broken cable.
(b) Use the tape, G00370 to tie a clove hitch around the two cables (Figure 501). Be sure to tie
the knot as tight as possible.

(9) Remove the straightedge, SPL-1671 on the captain’s and first officer’s control wheels.
