WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF ALL CONTROL
SURFACES BEFORE YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. AILERONS, RUDDERS,
ELEVATORS, FLAPS, SLATS, SPOILERS, LANDING GEAR, AND THRUST REVERSERS
CAN MOVE QUICKLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. THIS CAN CAUSE
INJURY TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(2) Do this task: Speed Brake Hydraulic Systems A and B Pressurization,
TASK 27-62-00-800-801.

(3) Install the mount, SPL-1670 and the control column assembly protractor, SPL-1680 on the
captain’s aileron control wheel.

(4) Move the speed brake lever to the DOWN position.

(5) Put the ailerons in the neutral position.
NOTE: The ailerons are in the neutral position when you can easily install the rig pin A/S-4
from the test set rig pin kit, SPL-1585 in the aileron bus drum.
(a) Remove the rig pin A/S-4.

(6) Install the protractor, COM-1691 on the flight spoilers 2, 4, 8 and 10.

(7) Adjust the protractor, COM-1691 to zero.
E. Spoiler Control Quadrant Test
SUBTASK 27-61-41-020-004
(1) Turn the captain’s aileron control wheel 87 degrees counterclockwise:
(a) Make sure that the spoiler No. 2 moves 32 +/-3 degrees up from the retracted position.
(b) Make sure that the spoiler No. 4 moves 37 +/-3 degrees up from the retracted position

(2) Turn the captain’s aileron control wheel 87 degrees clockwise:
(a) Make sure that the spoiler No. 8 moves 37 +/-3 degrees up from the retracted position.
(b) Make sure that the spoiler No. 10 moves 32 +/-3 degrees up from the retracted position

(3) Turn the wheel counterclockwise until the spoiler No. 8 starts to retract.
(a) Make sure the control wheel is a minimum of 70 degrees clockwise.

(4) Turn the wheel clockwise until the spoiler No. 2 starts to retract.
(a) Make sure the control wheel is a minimum of 70 degrees counterclockwise.

(5) Turn the captain’s aileron control wheel to the neutral position.
(a) Make sure the spoilers move to the retracted position.

(a) Do this task: Put the Spoiler Hydraulic systems A and B Back to the Condition Before
the Pressurization, TASK 27-61-00-840-801.
(b) Remove the mount, SPL-1670 and the control column assembly protractor, SPL-1680 from
the captain’s aileron control wheel.
(c) Remove the protractor, COM-1691 from the spoilers No. 2, 4, 8 and 10.

(1) This procedure gives wear limits and repair data for the spoiler control quadrant.

STD-1096 Micrometer - Depth, 0-1 Inch, Readable to 1/1000 Inch
STD-1097 Caliper - Vernier, 0-6 Inch, Readable to 1/1000 Inch

(1) To inspect the spoiler control quadrant, disconnect the aileron spring cartridge from the aileron
input crank.

(2) Use these tools to check for wear on the parts of the spoiler control quadrant:
(a) micrometer (0-1 Inch, readable to 1/1000 Inch), STD-1096
(b) readable to 1/1000 inch vernier 0 - 6 inch caliper, STD-1097
