(0.25 +2.29/-0.13 mm) at the centerline of the outboard actuator.
NOTE: You do not need to check the clearance at the inboard actuator.
SUBTASK 27-62-00-860-025
(3) Make sure the clearance between the spoilers No. 1 and 12 and the flaps is 0.070 +0.050/-0.050
inch (1.78 +/- 1.27 mm).
SUBTASK 27-62-00-860-026
(4) Make sure there is a clearance between the trailing edge of the spoiler panels and the flaps for
the full span of the spoiler.
SUBTASK 27-62-00-860-027
(5) If the clearances between the ground spoiler panels and the flaps are not in the limits, adjust the
clearance:
(a) Make a record of the clearance.
(b) Lift the spoiler or extend the flaps to get access to the spoiler actuator:
1) Do this task: Extend the Trailing Edge Flaps, TASK 27-51-00-860-803.
2) Move the speed brake lever to the UP position to lift the spoilers.
3) Do this task: Remove Pressure from the Speed Brake Hydraulic Systems A and B,
TASK 27-62-00-800-802.
(c) Loosen the checknut on the rod end of the ground spoiler actuator.
(d) Remove the locking key from the piston rod.
(e) Do the following to adjust the Outboard Ground Spoilers (No. 1 and 12):
1) Turn the piston rod on the spoiler actuator to adjust the clearance between the spoiler
and the flaps to the correct tolerance.
2) Temporarily torque the actuator check nut to 100 - 200 pound-inches (11.3 - 22.6 newtonmeters).
3) Move the speedbrake lever to the UP position.

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT ARE CLEAR OF ALL
CONTROL SURFACES BEFORE YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER.
AILERONS, RUDDERS, ELEVATORS, FLAPS, SLATS, SPOILERS,
LANDING GEAR, AND THRUST REVERSERS CAN MOVE QUICKLY WHEN
YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO
PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
4) Do this task: Speed Brake Hydraulic Systems A and B Pressurization,
TASK 27-62-00-800-801.
5) Move the speedbrake lever to the DOWN position.
6) Check the clearance at the trailing edge of the ground spoilers.
a) Make sure the clearance is within the limits (Figure 506).
7) If the clearance of the ground spoiler is not in the limits, do the following to adjust the
actuator:
a) Do this task: Extend the Trailing Edge Flaps, TASK 27-51-00-860-803.
b) Do this task: Remove Pressure from the Speed Brake Hydraulic Systems A and
B, TASK 27-62-00-800-802.
c) Adjust the spoiler actuator again, as necessary.
8) If the clearance of the ground spoiler is in the limits, do the following:
a) Do this task: Extend the Trailing Edge Flaps, TASK 27-51-00-860-803.
b) Move the speed brake lever to the UP position to extend the spoilers.

c) Do this task: Remove Pressure from the Speed Brake Hydraulic Systems A and
B, TASK 27-62-00-800-802.
d) Clean all grease from the piston rod and the rod end threads with Series 84 solvent,
B01004 (TASK 20-30-84-910-801).
e) Apply a layer of the corrosion preventive compound to the threads of the piston rod
end.
f) Install the locking key in the actuator rod end.
g) Torque the checknut to 250-300 pound-inches (28.25-33.90 newton-meters).
h) Install the lockwire, G01912 on the checknut.
i) Apply a bead of sealant, A00247 to the rod end checknut.
(f) Do the following to adjust the Inboard Ground Spoilers (No. 6 and 7):
1) Turn the piston rod on the outboard spoiler actuator to adjust the clearance between
the spoiler and the flaps to the correct tolerance.
2) Turn the piston rod on the inboard spoiler actuator until the pin that connects the rod
end to the spoiler panel moves freely or is loose.
NOTE: Make sure there is no force fight between the inboard and outboard actuators.
3) Temporarily torque the actuator check nut to 100 - 200 pound-inches (11.3 - 22.6 newtonmeters).
