4.
Carefully lower the airplane nose to lay it on the jig, without jerks.
b) For work on one of the main wheels:
1.
Secure the main wheel (the one unlifted from ground) in position with chocks;
2.
Prepare a supporting jig for rib no. 4 area, and lift it so that the main wheel on the gear located on the same side remains lifted off the ground once rested in the jig.
3.
Lift the wing corresponding to the gear subject to work, by using either a jacking system attached to the joint fittings on the same side, or by means of one or two persons, their backs turned, from underneath the main wing spar.
4.
Another person places the resting bracket under rib no. 4 so that the resting is done in the main spar area.
5.
Carefully lower the wing and lay it on the resting bracket.
CAUTION:
1. To avoid local structural damages, protect the supporting jigs with soft materials (sponge, felt, rubber pad etc.).
14.5. Storage and de-storage of airplane
Level of certification needed: A&P Mechanic
Defining various types of storage:
Depending on the down-time duration, the airplane can be stored as follows: a) Short storage, for a down-time period between 1 and 3 months;
NOTE: Maximum two successive short storage are allowed. Afterwards, in order to maintain the airplane in stored condition, apply the long storage.
b) Long storage, for a down-time period of more than 3 months;
NOTE: The validity of the short and long storage periods is conditioned by the performance of the periodical inspections designed for checking the condition of the airplane and protection materials.
c) Storage between flights is designed for airplane storage for an indefinite period of time, with readiness for flight at any time, without any special preliminary preparation. In this case, in default of flight activities, the engine must be started and warmed up at least once every seven days. It is recommended to start the engine more frequently in wet climate zones, subject to high temperature variations, favoring the condensation. Warm-up the engine until the oil temperature exceeds 50oC.
