10.2.5. Cleaning of airplane
Level of certification needed: Owner
It is important to maintain the airplane in a good cleaning condition, as cleaning also involves a first inspection of the airplane general condition. At the same time, the cleaning operations reduce the corrosion risks and make the maintenance work easier.
Only substances recommended for aircraft should be used for cleaning.
10.2.5.1. Cleaning of windshield and canopy
CAUTION: Do not use gasoline, petroleum, alcohol, acetone, carbon dichloride, Tiner or other organic solvents, as these materials attack the organic glass of the windshield and canopy.
Carefully wash the windshield and the canopy with soft detergent and abundant amounts of water, using a sponge. Wipe dry only by using dry chamois. Do not wipe the glass with dry cloths, as they may get them dull, scratched, electrostatic charged, and thus attracting the dust.
Remove any grease spots by washing with soap or with a neutral detergent. After washing the surfaces, rinse them thoroughly with clean water and dry them by the previously described method.
