strengthened frame, onto which the control stick is fastened in the floor area. Frame no. 2 is also
reinforced, and represents the rear boundary of the canopy cutout. The other frames are made of
dimpled sheet metal segments. Frame no. 8 is more rigid, as it contains the front attaching points for
the vertical and horizontal stabilizers. At the lower side of the cockpit, between frames no.1 and no.
2 is installed the fuselage beam, which is the main resistance element for fastening the wings. This
beam is of rigid design, made of aluminum alloy plates; it receives the main joint fittings of the
wings, fastened on 4 (four) points for each wing. For front and rear attachment of the wings,
appropriate fittings were fitted on the lower sides of frames no. 1 and no.2.
Behind the fuselage beam, between frames no.1 and no. 2, is located the main landing gear frame for fastening the main gears. Frame no. 4 is fitted with a hinged cover that delimitates the rear area of the cockpit.
The longitudinal strength elements of the fuselage are represented by skin flanges acting as strips, and by longitudinal bars made of dished sheet metal; the fittings and other resistance elements are made of D16T or 2024T3 (T351).
The cockpit area is enclosed in a rigid framework of aluminum alloy sheet metals and tubes; the large cutout for the canopy is bordered by reinforced sections, ensuring an increased rigidity of the cockpit structure. Most of the fuselage components are together by means of drawn rivets.
2. Wing (fig. 3; 4)
The wing is of metallic design, and tri-spars type, with the spars made of 2024T3 sheet metal. The wing-to-fuselage attachment fittings are made of machined 7075 alloy. The wing structure includes 12 (twelve) strips and 13 (thirteen) dished ribs of 6061T6 sheet metal. Two wing tanks (one for LH, the other for RH) are located between ribs no.1 and no.3, of 40 l capacity each.
A wing walk made of corrugated sheet metal is installed on the outboard, in the area of ribs no.1 and no.2, to hold the crew at ascent- descent. Classical design ailerons and flaps are fitted on the airplane, with a metallic strength structure, consisting in spars and ribs, and covered with impregnated fabric. The ailerons are equipped with aerodynamic trim tabs made of sheet metal, and adjustable on ground. Hinges are used for attaching the ailerons and flaps to the wing rear spar; these hinges area machined parts made of aluminum alloy plates, three on each wing.
Three wing spars, together with the strips, ribs, skins and an inner diagonal cross-tie for taking over the drag effect, ensure a very good rigidity of the structure Wing-to-fuselage attachment is ensured by hinges, located on the front (one point), main (four points), and rear spars (one point). The aerodynamic airfoil is NACA 4415 modified.
