Adequate cable tension is ensured by tenders and a pre-tensioning of the springs upon assembly during airplane manufacturing, so that when it is necessary to replace a cable in operation, the requirement is to maintain the original cable length.
Clean and grease all joints and cables. After carrying out tasks that require dismantling, when reinstalling the parts, check their proper assembly and secure fastening.
3. Maintenance of flap control
The flap control is conveyed in stages, from the control lever located in a central area, in front of the crew seats, through an adjustable rod, down to the torque tube under the floor, and then, through a cardan drive, to the two flaps (see fig. 5, 23).
The flap control maintenance consists in checking up its technical condition, reconditioning, greasing and adjusting. First it is necessary to dismount the rear wing-to-fuselage fairing.
During the technical inspection, check the integrity of the parts, check for not permitted wears in the notches in the control lever mount and its joints, paying attention to the shaft and fork between cardan and flap (see picture).
To adjust the flap control, use the adjustable rods in the cockpit, then tighten the lock nuts and mark their position with a strap of red paint.
After performing tasks that require dismantling, when reinstalling the parts check their proper assembly and secure fastening.
4. Maintenance of aileron control
The aileron control is transmitted from control sticks to ailerons by means of the control rods, balance levers and torque tubes in the wing ad fuselage respectively (see fig. 21, 27).
The aileron control maintenance consists in checking the technical condition, reconditioning, greasing, and adjusting.
During the technical inspection, check the integrity of the parts, check for wears at the control sticks shaft, inside the torque tube bearings and joints.
Clean and grease all the joints.
To adjust the length of the control rods, use the eyebolts located at the ends of the rods, then tighten the lock nuts and mark their position with a strap of red paint. After performing tasks that require dismantling, when reinstalling the parts check their proper assembly and secure fastening.
5. Maintenance of elevator trim tab control
The elevator trim tab control is transmitted from the control hand wheel located between the crew's seats, through control cables and guides, to the balance lever under the vertical tail, and then, by Bowden cables, to the elevator trim tab actuating levers (see fig. 21, 27).
The elevator trim tab control maintenance consists in checking its technical condition, reconditioning, greasing and adjusting.
During the technical inspection, check the integrity of the parts, check for wears at the cables (abrasions, broken wires), inside the guide parts and joints.
