(check for distortions, dents, loosened fastening on the fuselage); tighten any loose
elements; -general condition of the wheel axle, also checking its secure fastening at the main gear; -air pressure in the tires; -technical condition of the wheel hub, ball bearings and fasteners (check for damages);
replace any damaged fastener;
-technical condition of tires (check for wears beyond allowable limits, punctures, cuts all the way to the casing folds, rubber aging); whenever identifying the above-mentioned non-conformances or a depth decrease of the tire grooves below 0.08 inch, replace the tire;
-technical condition of the brake mechanism (check its integrity and secure fastening of the pipes and joints, check the brake fluid level inside the tank, check for any leakage throughout the system), check the good operating condition of the brake system for both pilots; if the friction plate wear in the clamps exceeds 0.06 inch., replace the brake shoes;
-technical condition and operation of the parking brake.
For the nose gear check the following:
-general technical condition of the gear and its fastening onto the fuselage (check for
distortions, cracks at the weld beam, loosened fastening onto the engine mount); tighten
any loosened elements; -technical condition of the rubber shock-absorbers (check for cracks and aging); -technical condition of nose wheel (procedure similar to the one applied for the main
wheel);
-technical condition of the control mechanism (check the integrity and secure fastening of the rods and joints throughout the system), check the operating condition of the gear-steering control system for both pilots.
To lubricate the ball bearings, use grease for U85Ca3 ball bearings, or equivalent.
Replace all ball bearings exhibiting plays.
The shock-absorbers are replaced during overhauls, or 5 years after the year of manufacture.
