The elevator trim tab control (see fig. 27) consists of a control hand wheel attached to a central support between the two flight stations, guides, control cables conveying the motion to the balance lever located behind the fuselage, under the vertical tail, and Bowden cables, conveying the motion from balance lever to elevator trim tab The cable length can be adjusted by means of the mechanical tenders specially fitted for this purpose.
5.
The flap control (see fig. 6; 23) consists of a control assembly, adjustable rods conveying the motion to the torque tube located under the floor, behind the cockpit, and cardan elements located between wing and fuselage, conveying the motion from torque tube to flap. The control assembly comprises a control lever and a support fastened to the floor, centrally, between the flight stations; recesses are milled in the support plate, to match the flap-controlled position. By pressing the pushbutton in the control lever head, the lever-locking axle leaves its original recess in the support, while the required flap deflection can be selected by moving the lever; when releasing the lever pushbutton, the flap is locked in its new position.
3.8.2. Maintenance of flight controls
Level of certification: A&P Mechanic
1. Maintenance of elevator control
The control from pilot sticks to elevator is ensured by control cables, a balance lever located under the vertical tail and balance lever-elevator control rods (see fig. 17, 21).
The elevator control maintenance consists in checking its technical condition, greasing and adjusting.
During this technical inspection, check the integrity of the parts, check for wears at the control stick shaft, cables (wearing out, broken wires), guide parts and joints.
Clean and grease all the joints and cables.
Adjust the tension in the control cables by means of the tenders, and then secure them in position. Recommended tension: 30-35 Kgf.
Adjust the length of the control rods by means of the eyebolts located on their ends, then tighten the nuts and mark the position with red paint. After carrying out tasks that require dismantling, when reinstalling the parts check their proper assembly and secure fastening.
2. Maintenance of rudder control
The rudder control is conveyed from the LH and RH rudder pedals, through cables, guides, up to the rudder control levers. To return to the neutral position of the twin rudder pedals, two springs are provided between the pedal and the engine mount fitting (see fig. 11, 24).
