Clean and grease the joints and the cables.
To adjust the tension in the control cables, use the cable tenders, then secure them in position. Recommended tension in the cables: 3-5 Kgf.
After carrying out tasks that require dismounting, when reinstalling the parts, check their proper assembly, tightening and secure fastening.
3.8.3. Repairing of flight controls
Level of certification needed: LSA Repairman Maintenance
Remove any corrosion pits and damages of outer coatings.
Replace any damaged or worn out parts causing plays in the chain of controls.
CAUTION: No damage of the control cables is allowed: bent areas, broken wires, corrosion pits.
4. Rotax 912 S engine
4.1. Engine description
Festival R40S is equipped with a ROTAX 912 S four-stroke opposed cylinder-type engine, with spark ignition.
This engine is provided with a forced oiling system (with dry crankcase) and is cooled with air and cooling fluid. The shaft rotation motion is transmitted to the propeller by means of a reduction gear, with one reduction stage, provided with a shock-absorbing system and a load limiting system.
Rotax 912 S is fitted with a mechanically driven fuel pump, an electric starter, an AC generator, a double ignition system and a hydraulic RPM regulator.
