An air heater mounted on the engine exhaust muffler provides the hot air necessary for heating the cockpit on cold weather. It is a metallic structure, with two separate chambers: one for carburetors, and one for the cockpit. The air-heating chamber for carburetors is supplied with air filtered by an RU-0800 air filter, type K&N, installed on the engine mount, under the upper cowling. This filter has no clogging tendency when in contact with water, neither icing tendencies, being

protected against humidity with a special type of oil. The air-heating chamber for cockpit is supplied with unfiltered air, directly from atmosphere, from an air intake port located under the cowling.
From the heater chambers the air is directed to:
- the carburetor, through the suction dashpot installed on the engine;
- the cockpit, through the hot air distributor installed on the firewall. The cold air for carburetors reaches the cold air inlet of the suction dashpot located on the engine, from the same RU-0800 air filter, through a separate branch.
Two NACA air intakes located on the port and starboard walls of the front fuselage, behind the firewall, receive the cold air for cockpit ventilation, which is then guided to two aerators located sideways on the control panel.
Hot-cold air control for intake to carburetors is assured by actuation of the double throttle on the suction dashpot located on the engines (above the carburetors). This throttle is operated from the cockpit, by means of the ,,CARBURETOR HEATING” lever. The hot air intake to cockpit is controlled by the hot air distributor located on the firewall.
The throttle is actuated from the cockpit, by means of the ,,COCKPIT HEATING” lever.
Cold air distribution and guiding into the cockpit is ensured by turning the two aerators located on the control panel to left or right, and by orienting them in the desired direction. The link between component parts of the heating and ventilation system is ensured by a flexible air tube (“AERODUCT FLEXIBLE DUCTING”) and collars.
