Move the fill valve switch to the open position and connect the water supply hose from ground servicing equipment to the fill fitting.
(3)
Fill the tanks until the indicator shows the amount that is necessary. If you want to fill the tanks fully, continue to fill until water appears at the overflow fitting.
NOTE: You must stop immediately when the water comes out of the
____
overflow fitting.
B. Pressurizing the Water System
(1) The water system is pressurized by an air compressor and/or engine bleed air from the pneumatic manifold. The air passes through a filter and check valve, and enters the top of the water tanks. The air pressure forces the water to the washbasin and galley. If the pressure in the water tanks drops below a predetermined level, a pressure sensing switch closes, completing a 28-volt dc circuit to the compressor relay which delivers 115 volts ac to the air compressor. The pressure switch will open to stop the air compressor when the air pressure gets to approximately 40 psi.
C. Dispensing Water
(1) With the water tanks filled with water and pressurized, water will be distributed through the water system plumbing. With the applicable shutoff valves open (Fig. 2), water is then available at the distribution points.
D. Draining the Water System (Fig. 2)
(1) Do these steps to drain the water system.
(a)
Open the circuit breakers for lavatory and water tank water heaters.
(b)
Open the circuit breakers for the in-line heaters.
(c)
Open the water shutoff valves for the lavatory and galley.
(d)
Open the water service panel door.
(e)
Connect a clean drain hose to the fill fitting.
(f)
Let the water drain.

FILL FITTING - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. This procedure has two tasks. The first is the removal of the fill fitting from the water service panel. The second is the installation of the fill fitting on the water service panel.

Do this task: "Water System Servicing (Drain)" (AMM 12-14-61/301).

Remove the clamshell coupling just above the service panel from the water fill line.

Move the bottom half of the sleeve over the top end of the connection.

Put a cap in the water fill line to keep the contamination out of the water system.
