 12.8 fluid ounces (.38 liters) chlorine dioxide,
 1.33 ounces (37.7 grams) citric acid.
 b)  AIRPLANES WITH THREE TANKS (30 GAL CAPACITY); Mix the following amounts of chlorine dioxide with citric acid in a clean plastic container:
 19.2 fluid ounces (57.liters) chlorine dioxide,
 2.00 ounces (56.6 grams) citric acid.

Use a clean instrument to mix the solution fully.

 (c)  
Do not use the solution for 5 minutes (activation period).

 (d)  Add water to make approximately 5 gallons (20 liters) of solution.

 (3)  After 5 minutes, put the solution into the potable water system through the fill fitting at the service panel (Ref 12-14-61/301).
 NOTE: The potable water will have a bad taste (like chlorine) if
____ you use too much of the disinfectant solution

Fill the system with potable water until water with chlorine flows from the overflow port (Ref 12-14-61/301).

Open each faucet in the system for 15 seconds.

Let the water stay in the system for 1 hour.


 NOTE: The water with chlorine must be removed immediately after
____ 1 hour to prevent a possible bad taste in the system.

 G. Flush the Potable Water System with Clean Water.

Fill the system (Ref 12-14-61/301) with potable water until the water flows from the overflow port.

If applicable, install the new water filter cartridges.

 D. Procedure
 S 172-056
 (1)  
Perform hot water flush.

 (a)  
Drain system and add a minimum of 100 gallons of hot water to water tanks; close fill and overflow valve (water temperature 140 +/- 5 degrees Fahrenheit).

 (b)  
Open all water system faucets until water flows through each for 15 seconds.

 (c)  
Allow system to stand for one-half hour.

 

 (2)  
Drain the system (AMM 12-14-61/301).

 (3)  
Fill the system (AMM 12-14-61/301).
