TOILET WASTE SYSTEM - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION
_______________________________________________
1. General_______
A. This toilet waste system is the type of system that uses the toilet waste fluid that has been collected. The collected fluid, mixed with the chemical precharge, is used to clear the toilet bowl of its contents. The components that are used to receive, store, ventilate, filter, and use the collected fluid again are given below. The components or subsystems that are necessary to drain, rinse and seal the waste tank are also included.
(1)
The toilet tank and bowl receive and store the toilet waste. The components in the toilet tank and bowl are:
(a)
Toilet tank
(b)
Toilet bowl
(c)
Separator
(d)
The provisions to mount the components of the toilet drain, rinse, flush and ventilation systems.
(2)
The toilet bowl flush system moves the toilet water from the waste tank through a filter and into the toilet bowl. This clears the bowl of its contents. The components are:
(a)
Motor-pump-filter assembly
(b)
Toilet flush handle and timer
(3)
The toilet waste drain system moves the toilet waste from the toilet tank to the service panel during servicing. It has these components:
(a)
Toilet drain tube
(b)
Toilet tank drain valve
(c)
Ball valve
(d)
Drain valve assembly at the service panel.
(4)
The toilet tank rinse system transports the rinse water from the service panel to the tank to flush the tank. The rinse system is also used to put chemical precharge into the tank. The rinse system has these components:
(a)
Tank rinse lines
(b)
Spray nozzles
(c)
Rinse shutoff valve
(d)
Fluid level sensor
(e)
Anti-siphon valve
(f)
Mushroom check valve
(5)
The anti-siphon valve, mushroom check valve and spray nozzles are part of the motor-pump-filter assembly.
(6)
The toilet service panel allows ground personnel to drain, rinse (flush) and put chemical precharge into the toilet tank. The toilet service panel has these components:
(a)
Drain valve assembly
(b)
Rinse fitting and cap
(c)
Ball valve operating handle
