TOILET WASTE SYSTEM - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES

1. General
_______
A. This procedure contains two tasks. The tasks are as follows:
(1)
Standard Procedures for Work on the Toilet Waste and Equipment.
(2)
The task to do a check of the seals on the drain valve assembly at toilet service panel.

2. Standard Procedures for Toilet Waste and Equipment
__________________________________________________
A. General
(1)
You must obey the standard procedures of your country and local area when you do work with the toilet waste and toilet waste equipment.
(2)
More standard procedures are given below for when you do work on the toilet tank components, drain lines, and drain valves.
B. Standard Tools and Equipment

Gloves - Rubber (elbow length)
(2)
Brush - 2-to 4-inch wide medium bristle

E. Procedure

(1) If you do work or do servicing on the toilet waste equipment, make sure you wear the clothes that give you protection.
NOTE: This is a list of the clothes that you can wear to give you

protection when it is necessary.

(d)
Face mask

Safety glasses

You must not put contamination on other areas after you touch the toilet waste equipment that has contamination. Make sure you remove the protective clothing that has contamination before you do a different task.

Use disposable towels or shop rags to wipe the contamination from the surfaces when you remove one of these toilet components:
(a)
the toilet tank
(b)
the toilet bowl
(c)
the toilet tank drain valve
(d)
the motor-pump-filter assembly
(e)
the fluid level sensor
(f)
the toilet tank vent fitting
(g)
all of the other parts with the contamination.

(4) Apply one of these antibacterial materials to the toilet components with a spray gun.
(a)
Lysol
(b)
Chlorine solution

If applicable, put the component in a suitable container before you remove it from the lavatory compartment.

(6)
If it is necessary to clean the external surface of the toilet tank and its components, do these steps:
(a)
Use a medium bristle brush and a solution of hot water and antimicrobial soap to remove the contamination.
(b)
Wipe the surfaces dry with a shop rag.
(c)
Apply a light layer of lysol with a spray gun to all of the exterior surfaces.

3. Do a Check of the Seals for the Drain Valve Assembly____________________________________________________
A. General
(1) The seals for the drain valve assembly are on the waste drain cap and on the inner door. All of these components are part of the drain valve assembly.
