3. Water Quantity Indicator Installation (Fig. 401)_____________________________________

C. Procedure

(1) Install the potable water module together with the indicator.
(a)
Connect the electrical connector to the rear of the potable water module.
(b)
Put the potable water module in its installed position.
(c)
Install the mounting screws.

(2) Install the panel shroud.
(a)
Install the panel shroud on the panel.
(b)
Make sure the pins at the top of the panel are correctly engaged.
(c)
Install the screws at the bottom of the panel shroud.

Supply electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201).

Remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tag and close this circuit breaker on P180 DC Power Distribution Panel:
(a) 180D19 POT WATER SYSTEM
(5)
Make sure the indicator shows some water is in the tanks.

If the indicator shows the tanks are empty, do this task: "Water System Servicing (Fill)" (AMM 12-14-61/301).

Make sure the indicator shows full.

WATER SYSTEM PRESSURIZATION - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

General (Fig. 1 and 3)

A. The potable water system is pressurized in order to move the water from the potable water tanks to the galley and lavatory. The pressurized air comes from the air compressor and from the pneumatic manifold (AMM 36-11-00/001). When the air from the pneumatic manifold is reduced to 30 psi or lower, a pressure switch closes to start the air compressor. The compressor keeps the pressure in the system that is necessary to push the water to the outlets. The pressurization components are installed at the locations shown in Fig. 1.
Air Compressor (Fig. 1, 2, and 3)

A. An electrically operated air compressor is installed above the ceiling panels in the forward cargo container compartment. The air compressor gives pressurized air to the water system when the pressure in the water tanks is 30 psi or less.
B. The air compressor has a built-in 40 micron inlet filter to keep the unwanted particles from the compressor components and the components downstream. The filter element can be replaced.
