15. Rinse Fitting_____________
A. The rinse fitting is the interface on the service panel between the rinse line for the toilet tank and the water line on the GSE. The rinse fitting is a 1-inch diameter nipple that is machined to connect with a coupling on the waterline from the GSE. The rinse fitting has a hinged cap with a handle and latch mechanism to keep it closed. The cap has a seal that can be replaced.
16. Operation (Fig. 3)_________
A. Functional Description
(1)
Toilet Flushing
(a) The toilet flushing cycle is started when the flush timer switch is actuated by the flush handle. This gets power to the flush motor which operates the pump. The filtered liquid is pumped into the toilet bowl until the flush timer cuts power to the flush motor (about 10 seconds).
(2)
Toilet Tank Servicing
(a) The toilet tank is serviced at the toilet service panel. You must drain, rinse and add chemical precharge to the tank each time you service it. These tasks are described in detail in AMM 12-17-61/301.
NOTE: Make sure there are no indications of leakage from the rinse or drain outlets on the service panel each time you do the servicing. If you find indications of leakage, find and repair the leaks immediately.
17. Control (Fig. 3)_______
A. Toilet Operation
(1) Turn the handle for the flush timer switch to start the toilet system. Operation is automatic and is controlled by time switches.
B. Tank Fill Control During Servicing
(1) During flushing and filling of the toilet tanks, 28 volts dc is available from the ground handling bus to power the tank fluid level sensor and energize one control relay. Also, 115 volts ac is available from the ground handling bus to energize the other control relay and open the rinse line shutoff valve in the tank rinse line. If the fluid in the tank is allowed to rise to the set level, the sensor will de-energize a control relay and close the shutoff valve in the rinse line. The shutoff valve will automatically open when the fluid level is lowered. The shutoff valve is driven closed when the ground handling bus is de-energized. If the valve does not open automatically because of an electrical malfunction, the valve may be opened manually to permit toilet tank servicing (AMM 12-17-61).
NOTE: The rinse line shutoff valve prevents more than the set level
____ of fluid to be added to the tank during servicing. It does not measure pre-charge or rinse water quantities; such quantities must be measured by servicing personnel.
