Apply the grease, DOD-G-24650 or sealant DC-111 to the packing and threads of the pressure relief valve.

Remove the protective cap from the fitting for the pressure relief valve.

WARNING: DO NOT TURN THE DEFLECTOR CAP WHEN YOU REMOVE OR INSTALL THE
_______ PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE. THE PRESSURE AT WHICH THE RELIEF VALVE RELEASES PRESSURE CAN CHANGE IF THE DEFLECTOR CAP TURNS. IF THE PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE DOES NOT RELEASE AT THE CORRECT PRESSURE, INJURIES TO PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT CAN OCCUR.
(3) Install the pressure relief valve with a new O-ring.
NOTE: If it is necessary, use a suitable tool to hold the fitting

when you tighten the valve.

Pressurize the water tank (AMM 38-41-00/201).

Make sure there are no air leaks at the connection of the pressure relief valve to the fitting.

Replace the access panel.

Do this task: Pressure Relief Valve Removal.

Do a check of the relief pressure.
(a)
Connect these components to a source of compressed air that does not have oil, as shown in Fig. 202. 1) Relief valve 2) Control valve 3) Pressure gage 4) Pressure regulator 5) Air filter
(b)
Close the control valve.
(c)
With the initial pressure at zero psig, slowly open the pressure regulator.
(d)
Look at the pressure gage while you increase pressure.
(e)
Keep a record of the initial pressure at which you find airflow or a sudden increase in airflow through the pressure relief valve.
NOTE: The initial pressure to open the relief valve can be
____ higher as much as 10 percent than the set pressure. The subsequent pressure should be within the normal set range of the relief valve.
1) This pressure must be more than 57 psig and less than 75 psig.
