Turn the handle for the drain valve to the CLOSED position.

WATER TANK DRAIN VALVE - REMOVAL INSTALLATION

A. This procedure includes two tasks:
(1)
The removal of the drain valve for the water tank.
(2)
The installation of the drain valve for the water tank.

C. Prepare for the Removal
S 864-001
(1) Use the pressure drain or the gravity drain procedure to drain the water tank as follows:
(a)
Pressure drain the tank. 1) Pressurize the water system (AMM 38-41-00/201). 2) Open the tank drain valve. 3) When there is no flow of water from the drain outlet, close
the tank drain valve. 4) Release the pressure from the water system (AMM 38-41-00/201).
(b)
Gravity drain the tank. 1) Release the pressure from the water system if there is
pressure on the system (AMM 38-41-00/201). 2) Open the tank drain valve and the fill and overflow valve. 3) When the water flow stops from the drain outlet, close the
tank drain valve and the fill and overflow valve.

Open the WATER QTY IND circuit breaker on the P18 panel and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag.

Remove the access panel on the rear bulkhead in the aft cargo compartment.

Get access to the drain valve through the insulation blanket that attaches with the Velcro tape.
