C. Procedure
NOTE: The cables and the casings are assembled as one part number by the
____ suppliers. When you replace the cable only, make sure the new cables and casing are manufactured by the same supplier.
S 014-106
(1)
For lavatory toilet tanks, remove the toilet shroud fasteners and the toilet shroud.

S 024-143
CAUTION: SHARP EDGES WILL DAMAGE THE CASING WHEN YOU PULL THE CABLE OUT.
_______
(7) If the cable is in one piece, carefully cut the ball from the cable.
NOTE: Make sure to make the cut cleanly across the centerline of
____ the cable. Make sure there are no remaining sharp edges which can damage the casing.
S 024-113
(8) For toilet systems with the ball valve installed, do these steps:
(a)
Disconnect the clevis from the upstream side of the ball valve.
(b)
At the clevis end of the cable, pull the cable out of the casing.
S 024-114
(9)
For ALL EXCEPT toilet systems with the ball valve installed, pull the cable from the casing at the service panel.
S 024-115
(10)
If the cable does not come out of the service panel with a force of 20 pounds or less, do the steps that follow.
NOTE: If the cable does not come out with a force of 20 pounds or
____ less, we think it is because the cable assembly is of the type that has keys in the slider housing. The keys serve to limit the travel of the cable. The maker for this type is CONTROLEX/EANCO. Make sure the identification marker on the slider housing identifies the maker to be CONTROLEX/EANCO before you do the steps that follow. If the maker is not CONTROLEX/EANCO, we recommend that you do the steps to remove and replace the complete cable assembly.
(a)
Remove the cabin pressurization outflow valve
(AMM 21-31-11/401).
(b)
Remove the cable handle at the service panel.
(c)
Remove the external locknut, washer and shim (if installed) that hold the cable assembly to the service panel.
(d)
Pull the cable assembly housing inboard through the service panel hole to access the threaded sleeve.
(e)
Apply heat to the sleeve so the loctite will become soft.
(f)
Use a wrench to loosen the sleeve from the hex swaged end of the housing (Fig. 402).
