TOILET DRAIN VALVE - INSPECTION/CHECK
_____________________________________
TASK 38-32-31-206-004
1. Toilet Drain Valve Inspection_____________________________
A. General
(1)
The toilet drain valve supplies a positive seal in the toilet tank for different atmospheric pressures that occur during all altitude conditions.
(2)
This procedure has the instructions to open the drain cap to examine the drain tube at the service panel to make sure the toilet drain valve keeps the toilet fluid in the toilet tank.
(3)
If there is a fluid leak; a drain cap and a drain plug or a flapper valve in the service panel, and on some airplanes a ball valve in the forward drain tube, will hold the fluid in the drain tube. When you open the cap, you can do a visual check to make sure there is no leakage past the seal for the drain cap, the seal for the flapper valve, the drain plug, or the ball valve.
(4)
If you find indications of leakage from these components at the service panel, you must do the the corrective action to replace the parts that have leaks (AMM 38-32-00/501).

(b) At the service panel, operate the drain valve handle to open the ball valve.
(5) S 216-012Examine the inner surface of the drain tube for leakage from the toilet tank.
NOTE: If there is fluid in the toilet drain tube, it does not always mean there is leakage from the toilet drain valve. In some lavatories, there is a drain fitting installed under the toilet tank to drain the moisture condensation and lavatory spillage to the toilet drain tube.
(6) S 216-013If you find leakage in the drain tube from the toilet drain valve, do the steps under "If you find leakage in the drain tube", in the Toilet System - A/T procedure (AMM 38-32-00/501).
(7) S 866-014If the drain tube has a ball valve, connect the drain valve cable to the quick-disconnect on the toilet tank.
