TOILET SYSTEM - TROUBLE SHOOTING

1. General

CAUTION: WHEN TROUBLE SHOOTING THE TOILET FLUSHING SYSTEM, DO NOT OPERATE

THE FLUSH PUMP WHEN THE TANK IS DRY.
A. These procedures apply to each toilet system. Trouble shooting of the toilet flushing system is outlined in the trouble shooting chart, part 3. Procedures for correction of problems not directly related to the flushing system are described in part 2.
2. Toilet System - Trouble Shooting

A. An unpleasant odor from the toilet unit indicates improper servicing of the toilet system. To correct, drain and flush the toilet system and make sure the recommended service procedure is being followed including use of the proper chemical solution.
B. Liquids accumulated in the drain tube are either from a leaking toilet tank or from the lavatory floor drain which empties into the drain tube. If the leakage is from the tank, a damaged or obstructed drain valve or valve seat is indicated. To isolate the cause of the leakage, drain and flush the toilet system, remove the tank top (if so equipped) or remove the drain valve from tank and examine for obstruction or damage to the valve or the valve seat. If the valve is obstructed, remove the obstruction. If the valve is damaged, replace the valve. If the valve seat is damaged, replace the toilet tank.
NOTE: On some toilet tanks, it is possible to examine for and clear
____ the obstructed drain valve through the toilet bowl separator with a suitably bent rod.
