6. Threshold Drain
_______________
A. A threshold drain is installed at the opening for each cabin entry door.
(1)
DRAIN SYSTEMS WITH A DRAIN MAST; The water that is collected by the threshold drain goes out of the airplane through the drain mast.
(2)
DRAIN SYSTEMS WITHOUT A DRAIN MAST;
The water is routed to the bilge area.
7. Drain Vents
___________
A. Drain vents are installed on some drain lines that go to the drain mast. The drain vents help to control the air noises that come from the galley and threshold drains. The drain vents also help to remove the odors from the lavatories.

WASTE WATER - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains one task. This task gives the procedure to remove blockages from the waste water drain lines.
B. The drain lines in the water system are made of nylon. You must be careful with the nylon lines to prevent nicks and dents.
C. You must use the grommets at the correct positions when you install the drain lines on the sink cabinet.

2. Waste Water Drain Line Servicing________________________________
A. General
(1)
There are four procedures to remove blockages from the drain lines of the waste water system. You must use one of these procedures to remove the blockage.
(a)
Procedures 1, 2, 3 or 5 are for drain lines which are lightly blocked.
(b)
Procedure 4 is for heavily blocked drain lines.
(2)
A blockage in the lavatory or the galley drain is possible if unwanted materials get in the system. If you permit only the waste water in the drains, this type of blockage will not occur.
(a)
In Rumbold or YRC lavatories, the vent holes are just above the toilet paper roll holder.
(b)
In all except the Rumbold or YRC lavatories, the vent opening is on the front of the sink cabinet.
