6. Check Valve

A. Check valves prevent reverse flow of water into the different components (Fig. 2).

WATER TANK PRESSURIZATION SYSTEM - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES

1. General_______
A. This procedure has these tasks:
(1)
Depressurization of the water tank.
(2)
Pressurization of the water tank.
B. The water tank is pressurized with air from the pneumatic system. The pneumatic system air is available from an engine or the APU.
C. A different procedure to pressurize the water tank is to connect a nitrogen source to the air valve on the water service panel.
D. You must remove the pressure from the water tank before you can do maintenance on a part of the potable water system.

C. Depressurize the Water Tank

(1) If the No. 1 engine is on, close the No. 1 bleed air shutoff valve.
(a) Put the BLEED 1 toggle switch to OFF on the P5-10 module of the forward overhead panel.

If the No. 2 engine is on, close the bleed air isolation valve.
(a) Put the ISOLATION VALVE toggle switch to CLOSE on the P5-10 module of the overhead panel.
(3)
Stop the APU if it is on (AMM 49-11-00/201).

Momentarily turn the left and right valve switches for the air conditioning pack on the forward overhead panel to ON, then turn them to OFF.

Disconnect the nitrogen source from the air valve at the water service panel if the nitrogen source is connected.
