WATER AND TOILET DRAIN ANTI-ICING SYSTEM - ADJUSTMENT/TEST

1. General
_______
A. This procedure has two tasks.
(1)
The first task is a test of the Water and Toilet Drain Anti-Ice System.
(a)
The test energizes each component in the system. Then, you will feel the component to make sure it becomes hot.
(b)
The components in this task are the drain masts (airplanes with heated drain masts) and the toilet drain gaskets.
(2)
The second task is a test of the gasket heater at the toilet drain.

Procedure

(1)
Start the auxiliary power unit (AMM 49-00-00/001).
S 865-004
(2)
Use the APU to supply AC electrical power to bus No. 1 (AMM 24-21-00/001).
NOTE: The electrical power must be from the APU, not an external
____ source. Do not supply external electrical power for this part of the test.

(3) S 865-017Make sure this circuit breaker is closed: (a) On the P18-3 panel 1) DRAIN MAST AIR
(4) S 715-006Feel the drain masts to make sure they are cool.
(5) S 865-018Open this circuit breaker and attach a DO-NOT-CLOSE tag: (a) On the G7 panel 1) BUS PROTECTION PANEL
(6) S 715-008Do a test to make sure the drain mast heaters operate correctly in flight.
CAUTION:_______ DO NOT PUSH THE AIR SENSING SWITCH FOR MORE THAN 5 SECONDS. YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE DRAIN MAST IF YOU KEEP IT ENERGIZED.
(a) Push the AIR SENSING switch on the E11 shelf for approximately 5 seconds.
WARNING:_______ ONLY TOUCH THE DRAIN MAST LONG ENOUGH TO KNOW IT IS HOT. THE DRAIN MAST CAN BURN YOU IF YOU HOLD IT FOR A LONG TIME.
(b) Feel the drain mast to make sure it is hot.
(7) S 865-035Stop the auxiliary power unit (AMM 49-00-00/001).
(8) S 865-019Close this circuit breaker and remove the DO-NOT-CLOSE tag: (a) On the G7 panel 1) BUS PROTECTION PANEL
(9) S 845-010Let the drain mast become cool before you do the subsequent step.
