WINDSHIELD WIPER ASSEMBLY - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains two tasks:
(1)
The removal of a windshield wiper assembly
(2)
The installation of a windshield wiper assembly.

C. Procedure
S 864-002
(1) Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
(a) On the P18 panel
1) WIPERS-LEFT
2) WIPERS-RIGHT

CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT YOU DISCARD THE ADJUSTMENT NUT AND THE TEE BOLT.
_______ THE WIPER BLADE CAN BECOME LOOSE IF YOU USE THE ADJUSTMENT NUT AND TEE BOLT AGAIN.
(2) Remove the adjustment nut and the tee bolt from the wiper arm and discard them.
S 034-004
CAUTION:_______MAKE SURE THAT YOU DISCARD THE NUT. THE WIPER BLADE CAN BECOME LOOSE IF YOU USE THE NUT AGAIN.
(3) Remove the nut that attaches the wiper blade to the wiper arm and discard it.

CAUTION:_______DO NOT LET THE WIPER ARM HIT THE WINDSHIELD. DAMAGE TO THE WINDSHIELD OR THE WIPER ARM CAN OCCUR.

Remove the wiper blade from the wiper arm.

Turn the screw that holds the adjustment sleeve to make the sleeve loose.

Remove the bolt that holds the wiper arm to the converter shaft.

Remove the wiper arm.

3. Install the Windshield Wiper Assembly (Fig. 401)_____________________________________
A. Standard Tools and Equipment
(1) Spring scale that can measure a 2 to 3 pound force.
