 WINDOW HEAT CONDUCTIVE COATING AND SENSOR - ADJUSTMENT/TEST

 1.  General_______
 A. This procedure contains two tasks:
 (1)  
A check of the electrical resistance of the windows

 (2)  
A check of the electrical resistance of the sensors in window No. 1 and window No. 2.

 2.  Do a Check of the Electrical Resistance of the Windows______________________________________________________
 A. General
 (1)  The No.1, No.2, No.4 and No.5 windows have a layer of material on them that transmits electricity. This layer has an electrical resistance. With time the electrical resistance of this layer increases.
 B. Standard Tools and Equipment
 (1)  Ohmmeter - 0- to 500-ohm range, accurate to | 5 percent

 (1) Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
 (a)  On the P6 panel, 1) R FRONT WINDOW ANTI-ICE 2) L FRONT WINDOW ANTI-ICE 3) R SIDE WINDOW ANTI-ICE 4) L SIDE WINDOW ANTI-ICE 5) RIGHT NO. 4 AND NO. 5 WINDOW ANTI-ICE 6) LEFT NO. 4 AND NO. 5 WINDOW ANTI-ICE

 (2)  Do a test of the electrical resistance of Window No. 1 and window No. 2. (Fig.501)
 NOTE: The No.1 and No.2 windows have bus bars located at the top
____ and bottom of the windows. The upper bus bar (power applied) have terminals at each upper corner. The lower bus bars (airplane ground) have terminals at each lower corner.
 (a)  
Disconnect the wires at the top of the No.1 window (window heat power connections).

 (b)  
Place an ohmmeter lead on an upper bus bar terminal and place other lead to airplane ground.

 (c)  
Make sure the resistance of the No. 1 window is as referenced in Table 1.

 (d)  
If the resistance check failed then replace the window. (AMM 56-11-11/401 No.1 window, AMM 56-11-12/401 No.2 window)

 (e)  
Make sure the No. 1 window is connected correctly to the back of the window heat control unit.


 NOTE: See Table 1 for the correct connection to use for
____
 the resistance you measure.

 DISCONNECT UPPER BUS BAR WIRES

2.
 PLACE AN OHMMETER LEAD ON WINDOW BUS BAR TERMINAL AND PLACE OTHER LEAD TO AIRPLANE GROUND.


TEST WINDOW NO. 2 THE SAME AS WINDOW NO. 1.
