Supply electrical power (MM 24-22-00/201).

See that these circuit breakers are closed:

 (a)  
ANTI-ICE & RAIN - ENGINE #1 AND WING

 (b)  
ANTI-ICE AND RAIN - WING VALVE

 (c)  
AIR/GND RELAY & LIGHTS

 (d)  
NOSE GEAR AIR/GND

 (3)  Momentarily push the L VALVE OPEN and the R VALVE OPEN lights on the P5-11 panel.
 NOTE: Each light will come on, then go off.

 (4)  
See that the two thrust levers are in the IDLE position.

 (5)
Make sure the throttle switches operate correctly on the ground.

 (a)  
Put the WING ANTI-ICE switch in the ON position.

 (b)  
Push the left thrust lever fully forward.

 (c)  
See that the L VALVE OPEN and the R VALVE OPEN lights come on continuously bright.

 (d)  
Pull the left thrust lever to the IDLE position.

 (e)  
See that the L VALVE OPEN and the R VALVE OPEN lights come on dimly after 1 to 3 seconds.

 (f)  
Push the right thrust lever fully forward.

 (g)  
See that the R VALVE OPEN and the L VALVE OPEN lights come on continuously bright.

 (h)  
Pull the right thrust lever to the IDLE position.

 (i)  See that the L VALVE OPEN and the R VALVE OPEN lights come on dimly.

 (6)  
Make sure the throttle switches operate correctly in flight.

 (a)  
Open the Landing Gear - AIR/GND Relay and Lights circuit breaker on the P6 panel.

 (b)  
See that the ANTI-ICE switch moves to the OFF position automatically.

 (c)  
See that the L VALVE OPEN and R VALVE OPEN lights come on brightly for 1 to 3 seconds.

 (d)  
See that the L VALVE OPEN and R VALVE OPEN lights go off.

 (e)  
Push the left thrust lever fully forward.

 (f)  
Put the WING ANTI-ICE switch in the ON position.

 (g)  
See that the L VALVE OPEN and the R VALVE OPEN lights come on brightly for 1 to 3 seconds.

 (h)  
See that the L VALVE OPEN and the R VALVE OPEN are on dimly after 3 seconds.

 (i)  
Pull the left thrust lever to the IDLE position.

 (j)  
Put the WING ANTI-ICE switch in the OFF position.

 (k)  
See that the L VALVE OPEN and the R VALVE OPEN lights go off.

 (l)  
Push the right thrust lever fully forward.

 (m)  
Put the WING ANTI-ICE switch in the ON position.

 (n)  
See that the L VALVE OPEN and the R VALVE OPEN lights come on brightly for 1 to 3 seconds.

 (o)  
See that the L VALVE OPEN and the R VALVE OPEN lights are on dimly after 3 seconds.

 (p)  
Pull the right thrust lever to the IDLE position.

 (q)  
Put the WING ANTI-ICE switch in the OFF position.

 (r)  
See that the L VALVE OPEN and the R VALVE OPEN lights go off.

 (s)  
Close the Landing Gear - AIR/GND Relay and Lights circuit breaker.

 

 (7)  
Remove electrical power if it is not necessary (MM 24-22-00/201).

 INLET COWL ANTI-ICING SYSTEM - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

 1.  General (Fig. 1)_______
 A.  The inlet cowl anti-icing system is a thermal system using engine hot bleed air from the 5th and 9th-stages of the high pressure compressor (HPC) section. The function of the system is to maintain ice free inlet cowl surfaces during flight and ground operations.
