RAIN REPELLENT SYSTEM - MAINTENANCE PRACTICES

1. General_______
A. This procedure contains 4 tasks.
(1)
The first task is the replacement of the rain repellent container.
(2)
The second task is a procedure to release the pressure in the rain repellent system. You must do this procedure first if it is necessary to loosen the plumbing connections in the system.
(3)
The third task is a procedure to remove rain repellent fluid which has dried on the windshield or the airplane skin.
(4)
The fourth task is a procedure to flush the rain repellent system.
B. Do not allow rain repellent fluid to dry on the windshield or the airplane skin. Rain repellent fluid is difficult to remove after it dries on a surface.

2. Rain Repellent Container Replacement (Fig. 201)____________________________________
A. Access
(1) Location Zone

B. Removal Procedure

(1) Remove the rain repellent fluid container:
(a) Turn the shutoff valve handle to the horizontal (closed) position.
WARNING: DO NOT LET RAIN REPELLENT FLUID TOUCH YOUR SKIN OR EYES.
_______ THE FLUID CAN CAUSE IRRITATION. DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES. IF THE FLUID TOUCHES YOU, WASH YOUR SKIN OR EYES WITH WATER.
(b)
Release the clamp which attaches the container.
(c)
Turn the container counterclockwise and remove it.
C. Installation Procedure

CAUTION:_______DO NOT TIGHTEN THE RAIN REPELLENT MORE THAN FINGER-TIGHT. IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THE CONNECTION CAN LEAK IF YOU INSTALL THE CONTAINER WITH TOO MUCH TORQUE.
(1) Install the rain repellent fluid container:
(a)
Install the container and turn it clockwise until it is finger-tight.
(b)
Tighten the clamp which attaches the conatiner.
