A00062 Compound, Thermal Heat Sink - DC340 -OR-
(b)
A00214 Compound, Potting - BMS 5-28 Type 3 -OR-
(c)
A00323 Adhesive - BAC 5010, Type 54

B00192 Solvent - BMS 3-2, Type I

D. Prepare to install the thermal switch.
S 864-008
(1) Find the correct location to install the thermal switch.
(a)
Look for the arrow that is on the inner surface of the window.
(b)
If it is necessary, move the spring bracket until the spring will hold the thermal switch on the arrow.
NOTE: It is satisfactory to move the spring bracket
____ along the window frame to put it in the correct location.

Use solvent to clean the face of the switch.

(3)
Use solvent to clean the surface of the window where it will touch the switch.
(4)
Prepare the compound that bonds the thermal switch to the window.
(5)
Put the tape on the surface of the switch that touches the window.

E. Install the thermal switch.
S 394-015
(1) Put the compound on the face of the thermal switch that touches the window.
(a)
Use the minimum quantity of the compound to fill the clearance between the switch and the window.
(b)
Put more compound in the middle of the switch than on the edges of the switch.
S 424-016
(2) Put the thermal switch in the spring bracket.
(a)
Pull the spring back.
(b)
Make the terminals on the thermal switch point at the hinge of the spring.
(c)
Engage the spring with the slot on the rear of the thermal switch.
(d)
Let the spring push the switch against the window.
(e)
Remove all compound that comes out around the switch.

(3) If you use BMS 5-28 Type 3 or BAC 5010 Type 54 to bond the switch: Make sure the bond is satisfactory.
NOTE: Permit one hour for the compound to become hard.
____ When the temperature is less than 50°F, more time is necessary.
(a)
Look through the window at the bond.
(b)
Make a new bond if you see: 1) bubbles with a diameter of more than 3/32 inch 2) bubbles that add to more than 10 percent of the bond.

(4) Clean the area of the bond and the switch.
(a) If you use BMS 5-28 Type 3 or BAC 5010 Type 54 to bond the switch, use solvent to remove the compound that is not necessary from the window.

(b) Temporarily pull the switch away from the bond.
CAUTION: REMOVE THE TAPE FROM THE THERMAL SWITCH BEFORE YOU
_______ OPERATE THE WINDOW HEATER. THE WINDOW CAN BECOME TOO HOT IF YOU DO NOT REMOVE THE TAPE.
