(b) Monitor the temperature of the window with a pyrometer. Do not
exceed 200 Degrees F / 93 Degrees C.
(c) Make sure the resistance is not more than 1000 ohms.
NOTE:____ This is a check for an open sensor. Any resistance
more than 1000 ohms shows a defective sensor.
(d) Remove the plate.

If the primary sensor is satisfactory, connect the wires to the sensor connection.

If you find a defective primary sensor, do this check on the spare sensor.
NOTE: Do the check for the window with the defective primary
____ sensor.
(a)
Measure the resistance across the spare sensor.
1) Make sure there is 310 +/- 20 ohms between the spare sensor terminals.
(b)
Connect the wires to the spare sensor connection if the sensor is satisfactory.

If you find defective primary and spare sensors at a window, replace the window (AMM 56-11-11/401 Window No. 1, AMM 56-12-11/401 Window No. 2).

(b)
On the P6 panel, 1) R FRONT WINDOW ANTI-ICE 2) L FRONT WINDOW ANTI-ICE 3) R SIDE WINDOW ANTI-ICE 4) L SIDE WINDOW ANTI-ICE

WINDOW NO. 5 THERMAL SWITCH - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1. General
_______
A. This procedure contains two tasks:
(1)
The removal of a thermal switch from a window
(2)
The installation of a thermal switch on a window.
B. A thermal switch is near the bottom of the No. 5 windows. The windows have arrows and the words LOCATE SWITCH to show where to install the switch. A spring holds the thermal switch against the window (Fig. 401).

(1) Open these circuit breakers and attach DO-NOT-CLOSE tags:
(a)
WINDOW ANTI-ICE R4 R5
(b)
WINDOW ANTI-ICE L4 L5

(2) Remove the switch.
(a)
Disconnect the wires from the switch.
(b)
Pull the spring away from the switch.
(c)
Remove the switch from the window.

3. Thermal Switch Installation
___________________________
A. Special Tools and Equipment
(1)
Pyrometer - Alnor portable pyrometer, Type 4000A with thermocouple 4040 and thermocouple arm 4010 or model 687 DIGICON INDICATOR System (to measure the temperature of the window)
(2)
Infrared Measurement Instrument - WAHL IRT-50E (Preferred to the pyrometer to measure the temperature of the window)
B. Consumable Materials
(1) G02175, Tape - Teflon Adhesive
NOTE: A commercially available teflon tape
____ with a non-stick finish can be used.
