CAUTION:_______DO NOT OPERATE THE WIPERS ON DRY WINDOWS. YOU WILL DECREASE THE LIFE OF THE WIPERS IF THE WINDOW IS DRY.
(1)
Make the windshield wet with water.

(2)
Open the circuit breaker (on the P18-3 panel) for the windishield wiper that you will not adjust:
(a)
WINDSHIELD WIPER LEFT
(b)
WINDSHIELD WIPER RIGHT

(3) Put the windshield wiper approximately in the middle of its travel across the window.
(a) Set the wiper switch (on the P5 panel) to the LOW position.

(b) Open the applicable left or right circuit breaker on the P18-3 panel when the wiper is near the middle of the windshield: 1) WINDSHIELD WIPER LEFT 2) WINDSHIELD WIPER RIGHT

CAUTION:_______DISCARD THE ADJUSTMENT NUT AND T-BOLT IF THEY ARE LOOSE. THE WIPER BLADE CAN BECOME LOOSE IF YOU USE THE ADJUSTMENT NUT AND T-BOLT AGAIN.

See that the adjustment bolt at the end of the wiper arm is not loose.

(5)
Adjust the windshield wiper assembly.
(a)
Connect the spring scale to the wiper where the wiper arm attaches to it.
(b)
Pull the spring scale to move the wiper away from the window.
NOTE: Make sure the spring scale is at an angle of 90
____
degrees to the window.
(c) Make sure when you pull with 6.5 to 7.5 pounds, the wiper lifts from the window.
NOTE: Read the scale when part of the wiper lifts off
____
the window.
(d)
Turn the adjustment bolt at the end of the wiper arm to adjust the wiper assembly. 1) Tighten the bolt if the wiper lifts off the window with a
force of less than 6.5 to 7.5 pounds. 2) Loosen the bolt if the wiper lifts off the window with a force of more than 6.5 to 7.5 pounds.
(e)
Remove the spring scale from the wiper.

(6) Do a test to make sure the wiper assembly is adjusted correctly.

(a)
Make the windshield wet with water.
(b)
Operate the windshield wipers for a short time.
1) Close the applicable left or right circuit breaker on the P18-3 panel: a) WINDSHIELD WIPER LEFT b) WINDSHIELD WIPER RIGHT
(c)
Measure the force of the windshield wiper assembly again.
(d)
Do the adjustment again if it is necessary.

(e) Make sure the circuit breakers (on the P18-3 panel) for both the left and right wipers are closed when you have completed this task.
