A. Safety Precautions
WARNING : OBEY THE SAFETY PROCEDURES WHEN YOU DO WORK IN A FUEL TANK.

(1)
You must obey the fuel safety procedures (Ref. TASK 28-10-00-910-001) when you do work in a fuel tank.
(2)
Install the TOOL-ZERO LOCKING, FLAP SLAT CTL LEVER (98D27803500001) on the flap/slat control lever.
(3)
Put warning notices in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the flaps or slats.
(4)
Put the safety barriers in position.

B. Fuel Configuration
(1)
Defuel the applicable fuel tank (Ref. TASK 28-25-00-650-001).
(2)
Drain the remaining fuel from the applicable fuel tank (Ref. TASK 28-25-00-650-003).

C. Get Access
(1)
Put the adjustable access platform below the applicable wing fuel tank, zone 540 (640).
(2)
Remove the applicable access panels (Ref. TASK 57-27-11-000-001) and (Ref. TASK 28-10-00-910-002):

for the left wing, remove 540CB, 540DB, 540EB, 540FB, 540GB
-
for the right wing, remove 640CB, 640DB, 640EB, 640FB, 640GB.

A. Preparation for Inspection
WARNING : USE SOLVENTS/CLEANING AGENTS, SEALANTS AND OTHER SPECIAL
_______ MATERIALS ONLY WITH A GOOD SUPPLY OF AIR. OBEY THE MANUFACTURERS INSTRUCTIONS. PUT ON PROTECTIVE CLOTHING. DO NOT GET THEM IN YOUR MOUTH. DO NOT SMOKE. DO NOT BREATHE THE GAS. THESE MATERIALS ARE POISONOUS, FLAMMABLE AND SKIN IRRITANT. GET MEDICAL HELP IF YOUR SKIN OR EYES BECOME IRRITATED.
(1) Use a clean MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003), made moist with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-004) to clean the top skin stringers (RIBS 8 thru RIB13).

(1) Examine:

the top skin stringers (RIBS 8 thru 13)
-
the runouts
-
the air transfer holes
-
the stringer joints and the buttstrap at stringer 11. Make sure that:

there is no corrosion or damage
-
there are no scratches or scores
-
there are no loose or damaged fasteners
-the surface protection is in the correct condition.
NOTE : If necessary, refer to the ASRM (Ref. ASRM 572100) for the
____
correct repair procedure.
5. Close-up

A. Close Access
(1)
Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other items.
(2)
Install the applicable access panels (Ref. TASK 57-27-11-400-001) and (Ref. TASK 28-10-00-910-002):

for the left wing, install 540CB, 540DB, 540EB, 540FB, 540GB
