 C. Aircraft Maintenance Configuration
 (1) Put the warning notice in position to tell persons not to operate the flight controls.
 (2) Put the rudder pedals in the neutral position.
 (3) On the panel 110VU, make sure that the RUD TRIM indicator shows 0.
 (4) Make sure that the red painted marks on the tail cone and the trailing edge of the rudder are aligned.
 (5) Put the rigging pin 98D27207516160, part of RIGGING PIN SET (98D27207516000) in the rudder cable quadrant. (Ref. Fig. 401/TASK 55-31-11-991-005)
 (6) Put the rigging pin 98D27207516330, part of RIGGING PIN SET (98D27207516000), or the PIN - RIGGING (98D27207549000) in the rudder control unit. (Ref. Fig. 401/TASK 55-31-11-991-005)

R  D. Get Access 
R  (1) Open the access door 312AR. 
R  (2) Open the access panels 325BR and 325BL (Ref. TASK 55-33-13-010-002). 
R  (3) Remove the dorsal fin 321AL (Ref. TASK 53-45-11-000-001). 
R R  (4) Remove the vertical stabilizer fairings 323AL and 323AR (Ref. TASK 53-55-11-000-001). 
R R  (5) Remove the rudder fairings 325AL and 325AR (Ref. TASK 53-55-12-000-001). 
R  (6) Remove the rudder fillet fairing (Ref. TASK 55-43-19-000-001). 
R  (7) Put an adjustable access platform in position at Zone 325.

 4. Procedure

 Subtask 55-31-11-020-053

 A. Removal of the Vertical Stabilizer
 (1)
 Remove the self-adhesive discs from the hoisting points on the vertical stabilizer.

 (2)
 Remove the plastic plugs from the hoisting points.

 (3)
 Install the hoist fittings with the eye end out of the stabilizer.

 (4)
 Put the crane with the SLING - R/I VERTICAL STABILIZER AND RUDDER and

R  a SCALE 1000 KG (2200 LB) in position and attach the cables to the hoist fittings.
 NOTE : When you remove the vertical stabilizer use a scale and
____ monitor the weight. Do not lift with more than 600.0 kg (1325.0 lbs.).
 (5) Disconnect the electrical connections.
 (Ref. Fig. 402/TASK 55-31-11-991-001)

 (a)
 Remove the nut (9) and disconnect the HF-feedline (16).

 (b)
 Remove the screws (12), the washers (13), the spacers (11) and the clamps (10).

 (c)
 Disconnect the electrical connectors 7102 VC-A (17) and 7113 VC-A (15).

 (d)
 Remove the screws (2), the washers (3), the nuts (4) and the clamps (1).

 (e)
 Disconnect the electrical connectors 7103 VC-A (8), 7112 VC-A (5), 7135 VC-A (7) and 7148 VC-A (6).

R  (f) Put a CAP - BLANKING on each disconnected electrical connector.
 (6)
 Disconnect the bonding connections.
 (Ref. Fig. 403/TASK 55-31-11-991-002)

 (a)
 Remove the screws (30) and the washers (29) and disconnect the bonding plate (31).

 (b)
 Remove the nuts (21), the bolts (32), the washers (22) and disconnect the bonding strap (23).

 

 (7)
 Disconnect the Green, Yellow and Blue hydraulic systems. (Ref. Fig. 404/TASK 55-31-11-991-003)
