ELEVATOR TIPS AND INBOARD END CAPS - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

1. General.________
A. Each elevator has a tip and an inboard end cap. The tips are installed on the outboard ends of the elevators. The inboard end caps are installed on the inboard ends of the elevators. You can remove the tips and the inboard end caps.
2. Description.____________ (Ref. Fig. 001)
A. Inboard End Caps.
-The inboard end caps are made from laminations of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic (CFRP) on a honeycomb core. They are attached to the elevator ribs 1. Countersunk screws attach them. Tips, which are made of light alloy, make the trailing edges of the end caps stronger. They are riveted to the end caps.
B. Tips.
-The elevator tips are made of light alloy. Ribs of the same material make them stronger. Countersunk screws attach the tips. Each tip has two static dischargers.
